In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

Im a field geologist, two years ago i was nearly 3000 miles from home in the desert and mine tore really bad, so i sewed it which worked for the time, Womens systems are much much thicker as far as the base and the amount of hair, they usually last me 2 1/2 yrs

My poly just tore from removing the tape 1st wear,because my head was aching and was getting a rash. I used the walker max skin protector but still. But I found that there is a tape especially made from walker called base tape that's for tears. Also there is a thing called polyurethane liquid for hair system that you can apply on top of the tape after and let dry for permanent fixing. This sucks, I'm going back to hybrid mostlikely. If only they didn't charge like $500 because it's in demand. Smh

Can you make a video talking about the advantages and disadvantages of different basses you've tried? Does the thinskin have any perferations in it? I'm afraid it would feel like gluing a plastic bag on my head, but your current system looks great, and I was thinking of ordering the same one. I was just afraid it won't breathe at all and sweat would get trapped under it, or water if from the shower, and then it would get moldy or something. Anyways I'd really like to hear the advantages and disadvantages, thanks!

Great video, Jake! Another way to get it done would be to save the piece of skin strip in the front hair line. The one that you usually cut off before installing the new system.

Hey Jake, I know you do CrossFit and wear a hair system so I was wondering if you could do grappling with a hair system. I am a BJJ enthusiast and I like doing mma 4-5 days a week. I’m sure the friction will definitely not only damage the hair system but also destroy the bond if I try doing bjj with a hair system and this is the biggest thing that’s deterring me from getting a hair system. Do you think there’s anyway to make this work? What about just doing something less taxing like boxing?

That’s not a pretty good hairline. That’s a great hairline Jake!! Do you always tape your front hairline? I tried in once (but on a lace base) and didn’t like it. My next system is poly so thanks for letting us know about being extra careful. It’ll be a new learning experience.
@JakeKent

yes. I think i might try playing with some liquid on the edges of the hairline to see if it looks better. the one caveat is that it cant leak while i'm working out...

Nicee, I was gonna say recdliner tape but removing tape even if adhesive is to song can cause it to tear more. But how are you handling the full poly? Is it not as bad because its winter. Like doesnt it feel like a oven compared to the hybrid set up? I like to workout too, can't wait till lavvivid has the hybrids back in stock

I had a piece like that and it tore in the back and the salon replaced it for me. If it was anywhere but the hairline you could carefully sew it and use toppik to combine if necessary but in the front that's gonna be an issue. Hair loss etc do your best its on borrowed time..looks good..thats all that counts

You should use bond at the hairline. You can see the edge of the poly.
@jdoe4983
@jdoe4983 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I do see that and personally use bond myself, but honestly it’s not something you would notice unless you were looking for it or knew what to look for. Worst case scenario an observant eye notices something “different” not “ oh his 0.03 uts is showing”. Even with black women, who have been doing this for years - they are hardly aware poly exists.

@@jdoe4983 idk man. We’re not talking about a zit here or nose hairs that are too long. Anyone with a brain that looks at you whether at work or elsewhere in public and sees some sort of shiny skin at your hairline is going to think something strange is going on. Sure they might not think hairpiece right away but still. In my world I am ok with trying a system one day but it would just have to be absolutely perfect almost all of the time. Sometimes I see these guys on KZbin with hairlines that are just so clearly off that it’s extremely cringe.I like Jake a lot but if he’s trying to destigmatize hair systems he can’t have a hairline like that on camera.

@@MikeL0084 I understand man. I wear one, my family, girlfriend, friend, and my brother (roommate) all have no idea. You also have to keep in mind jake is doing a completely brushed back exposed hairline which is the hardest to pull off.
@JakeKent
@JakeKent 3 жыл бұрын
Michael,for me, as i've said before, my goal isn't to be absolutely perfect all the time. in fact, that is exactly what i don't want to portray to you, and my audience, because being "absolutely perfect almost all the time" is not attainable for the majority of people who live day to day lives. I do suggest you try a hair system, and if you personally are that conscious of the hair, wear a swiss lace with bleached knots, or potentially wear a system with hairline unexposed. Much love brother.

@@JakeKent Thanks for the reply Jake. I understand. Personally I'm trying to find a swiss lace with a poly border system as my plan would be to have the most natural hairline and be able to do bond around the permiters but it doesn't seem like many exist. It's usually french with the poly border. I'd like to order a system from Lavivid just to have it for when i'm ready but that company and everyone else is almost all out of stock! Industry appears to be in turmoil right now. Any idea when Lavivid will be back to normal?

Why even bother to patch the hole when using tape? Putting tape over the hole is no problem. Soak the system in salt water and baking soda and the tape will come right off. Do you always use tape?
