Yes this did help a lot my toilet keeps running or like you said ghost flush I now I know what I need to get at the store

Holy $h!t - no wonder I bought the wrong size flapper the first time - I measured mine & bought what the measurement was because I didn't know that you need to deduct an inch. Thanks! My most recent flapper was less than 5 years old I believe, but my tank had started leaking into the bowl & the tank periodically refilling just as you described in this video. I was shocked when I took the lid off to check the flapper - it was starting to disintegrate! I have never ever seen a flapper disintegrating like mine did. I think it must be due to one or both of 2 factors: the high amount of chlorine my city has been putting in the water supply, &/or the flapper I had was made of an inferior rubber quality product.

How do you know it's not the wax seal?

A leaking wax seal will not affect the operation of the fill or flush valves.
