Knee pain and arthritis hurts millions of people, and this video will give you the 3 simple steps to greatly reduce the inflammation in your knees. More and more research is emerging showing inflammation to be the cause of most knee pain, and you can do something about it.
-- If you've used Diet to help Knee Pain, please tell your story in comments --
Joint specialists blame your age and obesity for your knee pain, but in reality they are causing only a small percentage of your pain. What if there were a diet that could quiet the pain and inflammation in your knee, and you could be much more active with much less pain? Thankfully, this diet exists, and is easy, tasty and sustainable...

Hey doc. My mother experiences headaches when she fast. If she doesnt eat for an extended period of time she gets nauseous and gets a headache. Is there anything that can be done about this? What are the causes?
@JimmyGelhaar
@JimmyGelhaar 4 жыл бұрын
@@drewbud8648 I'm not Dr. Berry, but based on following him and many other MD's for quite a while, I would guess it's low blood sugar, and generally she's not ready for extended fasting. Try more short term fasts like skipping breakfasts for a week, while eating lunch and dinner. And then try skipping breakfast and lunch and only having dinner. This will help the body become more fat adapted so that when you go even longer like 1, 2, or more days, the body already knows how to run well in the presence of no dietary carbohydrates (glucose). The other piece is that sometimes if you're doing a multi-day fast, the first 2 days might be a little difficult, but by the 3rd or 4th days, the great feelings of a long fast start showing up.

Questfortruth And the sad part is I have already had both of my knees replaced because of the pain. The most recent was October 28. I’m still working on getting myself to where I need to be. I also lost 60 pounds and did pretty much the keto diet but I still had a lot of knee pain.I was bone on bone. Just wore them out.

I have removed sugar,grains and oils for almost a year. Adopted the keto and carnivore lifestyle and lost over 100 pounds. My knee pain is down 90% and I’m playing basketball again. It is nothing short off miraculous. Chronic pain throughout my body is gone just by changing what I put in my mouth, so simple but one of the hardest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done. Thank You Dr.Ken Barry .💪🏻 PS I just turned 60 and feel like I’m 35

All of my healing through keto/carnivore has come after all my surgeries so your really ahead of the game. OMAD stands for One meal A day, please research this and maybe consult your doctor on fasting. Hope all goes well.

How can you be keto and not consume oils? It’s a key component to that way of eating.
@keithlebeau2693
@keithlebeau2693 4 жыл бұрын
Julie Wolf I should have added the word harmful in front of oils. The oils I used on keto are olive, coconut, MCT and lard along with animal fats like ghee, bacon grease and tallow. Now that I’m mostly Carnivore I only use animal fats to cook with. Sorry for the confusion , the oils that are in processed food are a really big health concern and I highly recommend educating ourselves with the oils we put in our body. Hope that helps . 👍

I had a knee injury in my 20’s playing lacrosse and my knee was never the same. I’m 55 now and about 3 years ago I could barely walk around the block in my neighbourhood without severe pain and inflammation in my left knee mostly. I was 250 pounds at 6 foot tall and I was not a big junk food eater but followed the so called healthy diet that most people eat. I’m a firefighter and I didn’t think I would get past my 22nd year on the job because of the leg pain. 2 years ago at this time I saw an ad that said “eat bacon lose weight”. Well I love bacon. It’s been a life changing experience. I was at 178 pounds by August of 2018. A little 2 extreme. People thought I was sick but I felt great. I’m now 190 and not as strict on keto but trying to do the carnivore thing more but I love seeds and nuts so it’s a work in progress. I can walk for miles with no pain. I bought a bicycle and ride 500 to 600 km per month, I go hiking, climbing and downhill skiing all with no pain. When I started, Dr Berry was one of the first doctors here that I started following and still do to this day. I wish I lived near his office because my doctor accused me of trying to commit suicide beacause I won’t take a statin for my high cholesterol. In the 2 years that I’ve been following Dr Berry, I’m off my HBP and cholesterol meds and feel as good as I did in my 20’s so I don’t really care what my doctor says. Thank you Dr Berry and GO TITANS.
@EdithIvhay
@EdithIvhay 2 жыл бұрын
My friend, it is a known fact statins cause strokes. I am a nurse and see how poisonous ☠️ they are I poor meds at a facility and to a healthy person it may not be so bad. To someone laying in bed with multiple diagnosis it’s like a ticking time bomb. I worked at a clinic who supposedly talked about eating healthy but if you talked about it, eating healthy, the doctors got after you and not in a nice way. Dr. Berry is right we don’t eat enough meat in this country. I went on a bigger with carbs and to bring myself back from it I ate carnivore till I started feeling better. Keto is my overall daily diet though. I only go to my Dr once a year he knows I am on keto and doesn’t try to put me on a statin. He’s younger though and isn’t attached to the old way of Dr’ing. I was 185 the regular way of eating and am 145 now. Yes thank you Dr Berry. Oh I had knee pain too but with activity and weight loss the pain is gone. Now just trying to get my flexibility back.

This is SO TRUE! About 10 years ago my doctor told me I would need a knee replacement. I didn't want that so I looked into other ways to help with the pain. That's when I discovered Mark Sisson's primal diet. Shortly after starting that my knee pain disappeared. I now follow a keto, but really closer to carnivore, way of eating, and I'm still pain free!

My Rheumatologist told me I have severe arthritis in my tarsal and metatarsal joints of my left foot that had me down a lot in the past, but Low Carbohydrate, higher fat eating combined with intermittent fasting has greatly alleviated all arthritis symptoms including my feet. Inflammation blood tests have changed for the better as well. Took about 8 months, but I have been enjoying the last several months since that eight months. Planning on eating and fasting this way indefinately.

At 57 years old I injured 1 of my knees while riding my bike, within half a year the arthritis in both of my knees became so inflamed that I lost most of my mobility. It continued to progress to the point that even getting to the bathroom was becoming impossible and going anywhere was out of the question. No I have not used medications or prescription drugs to treat my knees. I turned to natural treatments which has only helped a little. Then I went to mostly Keto but I allowed a serving of triscuits 2 to 3 days in a week. Again there was a small improvement but not enough to make me mobile. A few weeks ago I went full Keto and the improvement has been very dramatic! It's worth trying, this is the best my knees have been in 2 years!

With the Keto diet I reversed my type 2 diabetes in six weeks and I am 68 years old. I took a fall awhile ago and tore the meniscus in my knee. I also broke a bone in my knee and a shard is lodged behind my kneecap according to the MRI. An x-ray showed I have sever osteoarthritis in that knee. I am still waiting for an appointment with the surgeon and couldn't get one until the end of February. I would say there are quite a few people in line ahead of me for knee replacement. I would call that an epidemic. Thanks to your advice my pain has been greatly reduced.

YES!!! My ankles and feet would swell constantly! My orthopedic doctor said that I have osteoarthritis in my knees and ankles and not much cartilage left in my knees. I was in constant pain. Standing up was excruciating. I started keto and within weeks I realized the pain was a great deal lessened and the swollen feet and ankles were no more. I was super lazy with my diet one week and that weekend all the pain seemed to settle back in all at once... I could not believe the amount of pain I had been living with and was just so used to it... I had no idea. Oh... and the migraines!! When I’m on track with Keto the headaches are not nearly as often... but let me indulge in carbs just one day and the next day is a migraine beyond words. I’m convenced that Keto heals. A friend who is against keto, made a comment to me the other day, “you know you’re going to have to eat this way for the rest of your life in order to sustain it?“ I was like, yep! Bring it! The benefits are worth it.

I gained five pounds eating carbs to try and reduce my ketones on the meter. I would not bother unless you are diabetic.

I am just getting into intermittent fasting and Keto and I have high hopes that maybe, finally, after decades, this may be the magic bullet for all sorts of chronic health problems , including knee OA that has left me nearly crippled. Thank you, Dr. Berry, so happy I discovered your channel about a month ago!

I started keto on my family physicians advice (you read that correctly) due to pre-pre diabetes and it’s been the best 7 months I’ve had in a long time. I’ve had naysayers try to shoot my lifestyle down until they take a good look at me and I show them my bloodwork. I give credit to the ketogenic way for my rapid recovery from shoulder surgery. I’m 53 and lost 45 of my 65 pounds, to date, sitting on my butt for 4 1/2 months. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Thank you, Dr. Ken! Since we've gone on the keto diet in late December, arthritis pain in my joints has almost vanished! I especially noticed knee pain going up and down stairs is gone, and had been remarking to my husband about that bonus. Another bonus: no more constant heartburn!

I started making my bone broth, heating it by the cup, and stirring in a couple TABLESPOONS of pastured gelatin. It helped immensely when I first switched back to a seasonal agrarian diet (home/farm raised livestock products).

I've had knee, hip, ankle, foot, and back pain my whole life from dislocated hips at birth. I had to wear braces the first two years of my life. My mom told me I screamed every time I took a step when I was learning to walk because of pain. Since going mostly carnivore, I only have some occasional hip pain and that seems to be fading. I'm not sure if I'll ever be pain free, but it's certainly helped. The last thing I need is arthritis to make things worse.

I can attest based on my results after going to the Keto lifestyle. I was to the point that I could only do stairs one step at a time and it was worse going down the steps. I can now bound down the steps like a kid and I'm 61. I also work in construction and work on my knees a lot and even with that I have no knee pain. The only time I've found that pain comes back is when I drink diet soft drinks.

I've had Rheumatoid Arthritis for years with pain in my hands and hips. Early last yr I fell twice in a few weeks time and really hurt my right hip and left shoulder. Since finding you Dr. Berry and going Keto since Oct. 8th I have not had any pain in any joint at all. I eat Rib Eyes and bacon the most plus tuna and chicken. I do eat a little greens a few times a week. I haven't felt this good in years! And I don't have to take any diabetic medicine!

I've heard if you have gum disease or some other problems with teeth that you will have issues with your knees. I've had pain in my knees since 2004 and I religiously take glucosamine and condroiton. And that's a huge relief. Also Knox gelatin. I have It bands that are horendous and I do my best to stretch them. Don't give up folks. Keep trying.

As a skateboarder and snowboarder who jumps down stairs and cliffs a lot, doing keto really helps take away pain and stiffness. My knees feel weightless and lubed up when in ketosis. If I have cheat days, I feel like mr tin man and simply avoid even riding that day because I end up injuring myself

I want to thank you for what you are doing you have possibly saved me and my husband from a painful and miserable death. 37 Years old 6'3'' 250 Lb.s He is a big boy 5'9'' 410 lbs My blood sugar averaged about 225-300 I stumbled across one of you videos in november and got curious about keto after looking in all the places for information and researching for 2 months I finally felt safe and comfortable with what knowledge I had found. I finally took the dive after Christmas. My average blood sugar is now 94!! 😍 After seeing those results my husband joined me in my new way of eating. He lost his foot at the ankle to Diabetes. He is having to be much more careful with his blood sugars because he is on such powerful medications. So we have a jar of peanut butter and a frozen potpie (FORE EMERGENCIES ONLY). He will be seeing the dock soon to get those adjusted. I only wish I would have known about this way of eating sooner might have saved my moms life she passed on 2-9-20 because of non alcoholic liver failure, diabetes and a long list of problems associated with her years of horrible eating habits that she was taught by the world. PS It Feels very strange not to be hungry all the time and consumed with the thought of eating. I feel so free now. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I was told in 2007 - my knees needed replaced. I have become disabled and use many things to keep the inflammation down. Keto did help, however I switched to an anti-inflamatory diet and it has helped a tiny bit. And yes I have got shots, physical therapy, various Rx's to control pain/inflammation. However, there is only so much that can be done (too little to late) . I eliminated Gluten and dairy and that has helped -- can I walk? No, but there is a difference in how i feel and the amount of pain.

I’m 48, diabetic, have Ehlers Danlos syndrome, and have been suffering with joint pain for about 6 years. I bought myself a cane last summer. Walking and standing were excruciating. I have had 2 shots in my hip to help with pain. I started keto at the end of November last year and I am amazed how much better I feel!! I can actually walk around the store for more than 15 minutes. I can stand to make supper and not have to take a break. I’ve lost about 25 pounds and am close to cutting my metformin in half. Not enough good things to say.

This is one of *_many_* maladies I have corrected by ketogenic eating and fasting, along with strategic supplementation (magnesium, turmeric and benfotiamine.) When I broke my patella (kneecap) in 1991, the doctor told me it would be arthritic first. Typically, I'd know when was going to rain or snow, because it got a little stiff, particularly when descending stairs. It and my arthritis from degenerative disc disease are a minor fraction of what they once were (and I'm talking worst headache you ever had in the middle of the night from bad discs in the neck.) Oddly, I wasn't even looking for this back in July of 2018, when I embarked on a low carb diet coupled with prolonged fasting in quarterly stints, to reverse diabetes. That part was the easiest, including reversal of diabetic neuropathy in the feet and in the eyes, but what was most surprising was the cessation of chronic pain. I expected weight loss and lowered blood pressure (off all meds), but the end of severe chronic pain was what brought real joy back to my life.

I had pain and swelling (actually a hard lump) in my foot and was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. About a month after starting a low carb/keto diet I noticed that my foot pain had gone. I am going three months now with virtually no foot pain after having to hobble around and worrying that I may not be able to walk at all due to the pain.

I started out on a Keto diet last Sept. but quickly went to carnivore. At that time I weighed 342 lbs and could barely get up and down stairs. The pain in my knees was really bad, x-ray showed I was bone on bone. My VA doctor want to replace both knees. I said no I wanted to lose weight so they just give me more pain meds. Any way by November I had lost weight about 10 or so lbs. I went carnivore from November till now, Today I weighed 278. I get up and down stairs just fine. Still have some pain but I seem to have less every day. I only take a blood thinner med for a heart problem now. No more diabetes and blood pressure is back to normal. And like the doc said in another video my skin tags are all gone. I am going to get more x-rays next year and see if there is any difference in my knees. I am feeling just great these days and am very comfortably just eating meat.

Day 5: I am only 23 & last year I was diagnosed with a rare benign tumor in my hip which basically really attacked the cartilage & bone of my hip joint. Last week I found out my hip arthritis had progressed (Moderate to Severe Arthritis now). I’ve started feeling the pain associated with arthritis in the past few weeks & it is really hard to manage especially since some of the tumor is still present in the joint (currently on oral chemo for it) and makes it difficult to move my leg properly. I am fatigued and I can feel some really bothersome aching in the joint. But I really hope this helps me... I really hope my arthritis stops progressing and that some of my cartilage grows back (though that is really wishful thinking). Anyway... I just really hope it works bc I’m really tired and it’s becoming hard to tollerate it all :/

I believe in what you teach and practice, so no surgery. I have your book on lies Drs. tell you and I’m glad finally someone is telling the truth. I am two weeks into ketogenics and would appreciate any input on regeneration of cartilage.

Good video Dr. Berry. Can I recommend a future topic, and that is, how to avoid not-so-obvious sugars in product ingredients? Back when I thought low-fat was the proper diet, I consumed things like low-fat peanut butter and powdered non-dairy creamer. Both of these have as a primary ingredient, "corn syrup solids". I found out later, after many hypoglycemic episodes, that these are almost pure glucose.
