Interesting solution, you could take the normal map into photoshop/paint program and just smudge/clone paint the error out as well.

Absolutely! Using the UV view too. It would be nice if there were a patch tool in Substance Painter :)

Yeah but if the islands are separate (and they obviously are every time) then you can't tell exactly what color each part should be
@angryteapod17653 жыл бұрын
man if you could do that in the viewport that would be so awesome. to see results directly
@themagpiebird3 жыл бұрын
@@angryteapod1765 (thinks about it), you might be able to, its mostly a clone brush with a very weak strength and slight dabbing on the part. Could work.

thank you so much i shouldnt have spent like many days on that one single fucking artifact and shouldve just done this thank you update : use this method of fixing an artefact if you expiried all the options wich is (checking how much the shading of the low poly matches hp trying adding just a single loop to the borders of lp mach the curvature of the hp by adding more topology) if none of what i stated in the parentesees doesnt work use this method instead but i reccomend you its better to learn how to retopo properly then fixing your baking artefact over and over again when you want to change your low poly.

you can do the same with the AO map, just add an AO channel and basically same method

if i delete the normal map from the mesh maps it disappears and i cant use it for a fill layer
@rayunited2010foryou10 ай бұрын
U don't delete the normal map by removing it from the texture set settings. The normal map is still there in your project library

Just open 3D Coat, insert Normal, unlock layer and edit it like in Photoshop. X9999 easier.

Do you have any idea how these specific artifacts occur?
@SimonSanchezArt3 жыл бұрын
Bake resolution, overlapping uv's, ray distance or an improper cage, lack of anti-aliasing or bleeding, etc...
@darkobakula51902 жыл бұрын
It could also be a problem with your lowpoly / hipoly smoothing, faces flipped if your meshes are decimated, theres also an issue I have noticed when people use Weighted Normals for baking. Never used weighted normals on meshes used for baking.

Best thing to do is fix the models that made the errors. Spending time doing this might be ok for short term, but working in a company enviroment could be timely and costly. What if your team mate has to fix and does not know you did this and fixes the models, but it looks wrong, now he has to spend time figuring it out.
@Shige22132 жыл бұрын
no this is far quicker for quick fixes like artifact between lips, ears or tight areas on characters. I agree if you have errors everywhere fix your model but this is perfect for something i mentioned

what do you mean by "fixing the model"?
@Shige2213 Жыл бұрын
@@pygmalion8952 fixing on the model what caused the artifacts to be baked, like for example the distance between the bakecage and model is too wide, or when baking lips, opening the mouth for a clean bake etc

@@boitahaki What is your favorite solution to fix baked normal maps? fixing in photoshop was my favorite solution, but I agree it's hard to do separate UV islands that should be connecting to each other.

@@PandaJerk007 I've seen in a FlyCat video that he applied the normal map to the model in Blender as a diffuse map and painted and blurred over it. It's not amazing (And Blender's texture painting is terrible) but at least you can see it in 3D and have a better idea of what you are doing.
