Great solution. I do lots of paining my advice would be to use masking tape on the tire and rim above and below the sanding area.

I know what most people think about tire/wheel protection plans that car dealers try to sell at time of vehicle purchase. Yes, most of the time the $300 to $500 for the plan is a rip-off. However, I decided to take a chance and bought it for my BMW. After almost 2 years, I parked way too close to the curb and damaged both right wheels. The damage was about the same as the one in this video. I drove to the dealer and the service advisor took care of it. 2 hours later, I picked up the car and they put on brand new wheels.(using the original tires which were just fine) If I didn't have the plan($450, cheaper than the price of jus one replacement wheel), I would have received a bill for about $1200 for the two new replacement wheels.

Wow! I’m impressed!! I just got my first curb rash on my 22 GT today.. only 20,000 kilometres 😭 It was worth it though.. my dad had to go to the hospital and he comes first.. (he is ok by the way) I’m gonna give this a shot later on in the week.. looks like a great and easy fix! Luckily the part of the wheel that got curbed was silver… the black part never got any damage. It shouldn’t be too hard… it’s machined silver for me so I assume sanding it down and then maybe adding some clear coat may help? Might be easier I don’t need to paint it.

I did some research you need the gunpowder satin for the 21-inch model wide performance and of them offer it and spray cigar results won't be as good

my wife has had her M3 for 10 months and 3 wheels have curb rash. even though on paper the treads of the tires (235/45R18 = 9.25 inch) are similar width of the wheel (18x8.5 inch), the side wall angles in from the rim of the wheel to the tread, which causes the rim of the wheel to stick out further than the side wall. my sportage sx doesn't have curb rash b/c it comes with 235/55R18 tires where the side wall bulges out a bit. and also the factory wheels are an inch more narrow @ 18x7.5 i've heard of some M3 owners going with a wider 245 tire after they wear through the factory tires.

Do you know the Dupli-Color for 21" Performance Uberturbine wheel? The Dark Shadow Gray in the link is for the 20" wheel. The colors are different between the two.
