Slicing the ball? Here’s how to fix it.
We’re in the dog days of summer, but it’s not too late to improve your swing. If you’re frustrated with your ball flight and losing balls to the right, this is for you.
Start with the basics: know WHERE you’re hitting the ball on the clubface. Heel strikes cause slices due to gear effect. Use Dr. Scholl’s Odor X powder to mark your strike location or check for visible ball marks.
Understanding your contact point is crucial because great swings can still slice if the strike is off.
Step two: Assess your clubface control. If your strike is solid but the slice persists, the face might be open. Many golfers try squaring the club by adding loft, which doesn’t solve the problem.
Instead, rotate the shaft on its axis from the P6 position. This method adjusts the face without affecting the shaft’s alignment.
Hit shots, monitor face orientation, and note changes in ball flight.
✅ First shot: Focus on squaring the face to the path.
✅ Second shot: Adjust to find the perfect balance.
Understanding face-to-path relationships is key to consistency. Spray the clubface to track your progress and associate feel with strike.
Perfect contact and face control result in straighter, longer drives.
