Can you tell me something to do to work my hamstrings better? I went to Pt and she said one problem I have is weak hamstrings. And I also want to build my quads better. I had feet surgery yrs ago and since then I have not been able to do lunges as good as I want to keep others issues from happening. I do them but I also can feel I am very unbalanced now. My legs are suffering I can see. I am 50 and love exercise. I want to continue to stay healthy but I am trying not to lose muscle and bone. So I was looking on your videos to find ways to work my legs, I do lunges and squats and plié squats and things but surly there can be other ways to concentrate on the hamstrings and quads that will isolate them in addition to all the ones I mentioned to help the smaller muscles and help gain some strength. You explain so we’ll of why and how, so I hope you know what I am talking about, I have a difficult time articulating what I mean without a paragraph lol
@redefiningstrengthOC4 жыл бұрын
The best isolation moves are leg extensions and hamstring curls. I have a great hamstrings video though that includes both compound and isolation moves. Deadlifts, especially straight leg deadlifts, bridge and curls and such are two better ones for hamstrings than squats by A LOT haha

05:07 I have a suggestion. Don't put your hands behind your head, but on the top of it. You'll still have support to move your arms backward but won't apply so much pressure on your neck.
@redefiningstrengthOC4 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't be pushing on your head either way and putting your hands on top of your head changes the rotation of your shoulder so it changes the move.

I have a problem where my upper traps are always taking over these movements. Do you have any suggestions on how to minimize upper trap involvement?
@redefiningstrengthOC4 жыл бұрын
To help clients when they do have overactive upper traps or even potentially an overactive levator scapulae, I will have them foam roll them right prior as that inhibits the muscle temporarily and can then allow them to better recruit the correct muscles during these movements. Also a variation of the wings I like to use sometimes is hands on the lower back instead.

Of what glute/butt muscle? I have some great hip mobility videos that include stretches for especially the piriformis...
@elijahmeza24794 жыл бұрын
@@redefiningstrengthOC well I'm recently recovering from some type of muscle injury that happend at Thanksgiving. Long story. I was doing slow burpees about 100 of them then went to into dumbbell squats of about 90lbs 3x10. Suddenly I felt my upper right glute contract and i dropped the weight. After that I was unable to do bridge ups/pelvic thrust ups. Unable to stabilize on my right leg and lift my left leg. Unable to squat and twist to right side. Right calf tightness as well. Then when I would sit I would have severe tightness that would release after 10-15 seconds. Then stand back up the same tightness that would release in same time frame. There was no bruising, didnt hear any pops or snaps. End of Jan I guess everything lossesnd back up. I'm fine now I walk, run a little bit can do body weight exercises. But I still feel that slight tightness in my upper glute but deep in muscle. I can never really massage the exact point out with a tennis ball. Any thoughts on would could have been effected. I know it's a lot and might night be a easy thing to "diagnose" but any thoughts are appreciated.
