Well, your advice took about 20 yrds off my drive. I used to hit it 300 yrds and now only 280 yrds. But there is an upside as my drives used to go 150 yrds out then 150 yrds to the right. Now not only do most of my drives land in my fairway, all of my drives land in my course!

Weird. Usually the slice hurts your distance as its not in a straight flight. Accuracy is more important than distance in this game.
@ryandenton190
@ryandenton190 2 жыл бұрын
If you're losing distance there's an easier solution than what Rick provides. Keep in mind what he taught here is 100% correct but for most of us we slice because of testosterone haha... When we swing hard the club naturally comes down on the ball and follows through towards our body which swipes across the ball forcing a slice. If you start with the club away from your body and on your downstroke get your following elbow to tuck into your body the way its supposed to (so pulling the club back towards your body) you'll naturally follow through away from your body eliminating your slice... don't know if that makes any sense to you but for us who like to swing for the fences it will allow you to continue doing so while straightening your drive 🙂 Now how much any of this matters? idk... 😆 I have a 340 drive but can never seem to get off the green with less than 2 putts...

Rick, I just want to thank you so very much for providing me with lessons for about 2 seasons now. I started with learning how to hit wedges on your channel , learning my distances and establishing a solid foundation and took my game to a new level I'd never seen before. Anyway, I saw this how to fix your slice series on Sunday and I will admit I watched 1-4 all at once. I went to the range Monday and fixed my grip , the face and even started changing the direction in which my club is making contact with the ball. After taking my time and reviewing your second video throughout hitting a jumbo bucket of balls. After just one practice session my slice is almost completely gone on driver and it's a million times more controlled than it ever was. I can now pick my spot and be confident in the flight and direction . It's made my entire swing more powerful and efficient . Before this series I was a pretty awful driver of the ball I had those nice drives every now and then but the driver was the most unpredictable club in the bag for me. I'm now able to drive the ball consistently over 200 yards and staright!!!! I can't wait to get back out on the range for more practice. You have taken me from a consistently 105-110 golfer down to high 80's-mid 90's depending on the course but in 1 only season filled with a ton of practice and rounds. This year I'm going to continue that imorovement but I just want to say that you're videos are easy for me to understand and really make sense. I love the shot tracer and the style in this series /course / way it was filmed. Practice practice practice , Rick THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! Keep up the great work and I will continue to tell my golf buddies about your channel!!!!! Can't thank you enough.

I was on the range the other day trying to fix my slice which was getting more and more pronounced. After a hour of frustrating sliced drives, I sat down and opened youtube and searched your videos to find out how to fix my slice. All I can say is WOW. Thanks Rick. I worked through all the episodes, I can now say my slice is almost 100% gone and am hitting them further. Great advice.

Rick I'm so glad you covered the grip *VERY* clearly, for a decade and a half I had both my hands "on the top" I fixed that this year, I don't think that the grip is covered enough. Grips in tennis are far more explained in depth than they ever have been in golf. Tnx for the special attention paid to the hands!!

Rick, I can't thank you enough for this series. I found this series mid-summer last year (2019). Your explanation of why slices happen, and methods for addressing the problem has eliminated the slice that I have had since I started playing golf 20+ years ago. Anytime bad habits start coming back, I re-watch these videos and get straightened out again. Thank you for your channel.

After years of slicing, I found your video and put it to practice down the driving range earlier. Ive never been comfortable using my driver due to a horrendous slice. Can’t believe the impact simply changing my grip has had: slice virtually disappeared and never have I hit my driver so accurately; I’d probably say a 70% improvement. Brilliant advice 👏🏼

Thank you, Rick Shiels! This video was the first one I came across before going to the driving range today. The grip of the club, and angling my body provided me the best results. I hit further distances and had better control when these conditions were practiced in this video.

By far the best series of videos with focus to fix the slice. Before with my fades and slices my average driver distance was 200- 225, now my average is between 250-260 yards and even hit few 280s straight or draw. *Important factors: I started playing golf 9 months ago; I am 40 years old, and since December i started scoring under 100... To me it's a huge progress.

Hi Rick, firstly I’d like to say a massive thank you for all your informative videos! You explain everything in such a basic and easy to follow way. If anyone isn’t following you, I suggest they do. I’ve been playing for 21yrs and have always had a nasty slice to the point I stopped playing for quite some time. The last few weeks I have watched many of your videos and practiced every night in the backyard trying to the correct my swing and grip. Very pleased to say that after hitting 200+ balls at the range I didn’t hit one slice. Started hooking the ball but last night I started to draw it more. Massive thank you for giving me a fresh start on golf and loving the game even more than ever!

What an excellent video and series. I don’t know why this video made it clear what I was supposed to be doing with my fingers when taking a stronger grip, I’ve had lessons watched countless videos explaining the same concept, but it just never clicked. I literally watched the series and went to the range and was immediately pulling the heck out of each shot so I knew my club face was now square. A little practice with my swing plane and I was regularly hitting right down the middle. Not every time, but regularly. More practice is needed but what a huge step in the right direction. Thanks!

I have been watching all or part of this series before every round for the past couple months. If I don't watch it all before each round, I at least watch "Fix Your Face" before I head to the course. It has changed my ball flight and distance off the tee significantly! And watching this over and over and over ad nauseum really helps me when I stand on the tee box. Also recommended is "The Complete Driver Guide" which has all this plus some additional content. If this wasn't free, I'd buy it! Rick Shiels deserves the Nobel Prize for this series of videos: - The Complete Fix Your Slice Guide - The Complete Fix Your Driver Guide - The Complete Golf Swing Guide

Another letter of thanks. I had viewed the videos and went to work on my home simulator. My swing improved dramatically. However like most, I started slacking off a bit and noticed the banana flight returning. A few moments of reviewing the videos has set me back on course. But even better, the review allowed me to more fulsomely grasp ALL of the tips and create a greater understanding of why I was seeing a variety of ball flight characteristics. I now have a better feel of what is happening and can apply corrections while playing. Many thanks.

I have to agree with a lot of the other comments on here. Rick, your videos are so much appreciated. Started playing again after a 15 year break, and it has not been pretty. After Yesterday's play, i'm a believer. Most of the time at the tee box it was line it up and pray, no telling where the ball was going to go. it was going to go far, but would it be far left, or far right, most where bad slices. Watched this series, went to the driving range a few times, and replayed Ricks videos in my head. The hand placement, the closed head, the in to out club path, and its fixed. After i worked out the first hole gitters, Yesterday i was crushing it. Either slight left, or right down the middle of the fair way. Iver never been so happy. I did not slice a single ball yesterday during play.

Bowing the left wrist really helped me. I was able to get to the course a hour early and practice. I can’t tell you how happy I am that found your channel! I watched these 4 videos around 3 times. For about my last 25 rounds I haven’t broke 100. Today, I went out and shot an 89. 75% of my drives were in the fairway. Such an easier game from the fairway! Thank you.

This vlog absolutely is spot on. I was working on this area in my game this past saturday. I hit 92% of my fairways. I did have a slight fade, but as far as slicing the bread, I did pretty good. I'm working on my consistency next.

This is freaking excellent. Thank you for explaining the why’s because there are people like me that NEED to UNDERSTAND the theory and mechanics behind something before I can truly learn lol. The diagrams are great

Thanks so much for this. Was having major problems with slicing my driver after not playing golf for a few years and recently picking up the clubs again. This really helped me wasnt focusing on my grip at all. Soon as i started playing around with a stronger grip and closing the club face on impact I started hitting straighter almost instantly. Keep up the good work !!!!

Brilliant series Rick I followed your advice on the grip and took it to the range last night. What an amazing difference, went from curving the ball miles to the right to about 90% of my shots going gun barrel straight down the middle and about 50 yards longer.

Rick, thank you very much for these videos! I have worked on everything and have 90% fixed my slice. My issue is just that now sometimes I'm hitting it to the left too straight. . . But it just shows me it's working and not slicing. I was able to beat 2 guys today that are a lot better than me and my drives have been straighter and longer!

Before I watched this series my ball went farther to the right than it did forward. I changed my grip like it said and started being more mindful of my club face and now I hit my driver over 300 yards basically straight down the fairway. Thank you rick, my slice was starting to make me wanna quit golfing!!!!

Rick, thank you so much for making these videos on driving. I’ve been lost in the wilderness since I picked up the game 3 years ago. I would be lucky to land 1 out 4 shots in bounds before watching this video. Now, basically almost every shot is on course and playable. Since I’m hitting the shot square it’s going further. 200-240 yards. Again, thank you. I can drive with confidence now.
