For years I struggled with the slice. After a week of practicing the advice of Rick's videos I rarely hit a slice. Although I don't always draw the ball, I have been hitting shots straight or slightly to the right. Today I went to the range and hit a bucket of balls, I hit one ball that sliced. Thank you Rick, you have completely changed my swing!

Just got back from the range, trying to put all this info into practice. The first three drives I hit were three of the best I've ever hit with range balls! Altered grip slightly, tried to bow hand at top of backswing, but keeping right shoulder back seemed to be the real winner. Did go a bit pear shaped after a while, the whole crossing hands over going to take some work. But didn't slice more than two out of 50 so I'm taking the positives and running!😎

Tks Rick, my slice has been killing my game for a long time and costing me in golf balls (lol). After watching your series on Fix your slice and doing exactly what your lessons show and describe I put all that into practice and after a few minor adjustments to tee height and distance from the ball (I used the foot powder to check) I hit two buckets right down the middle with ideal trajectory and distance. finally have some consistency to the driver and couldn't be happier. Thanks again this series is a must see for slicers.......:)

So I watched all 4 videos the other night. A buddy sent them to me that struggles with the slice just like me and he said it did a lot to help his swing. I watched them and visualized my swing with all the videos. The next day I went to the range and got my 7 iron out. After my warmups I started to incorporate these moves and I did something I’ve never done. I hit a draw! Then I hit another one and another one. I hit 10 draws in a row!!! I moved over to my driver and I did not hit a draw but I was not slicing either. Still a lot of work to do on my driver but after years of trying and many, many lessons. This 4 part video hit me hitting a draw with my irons!!! Thank you!!!

Pure Genius. Was driving myself potty trying to figure out why I had developed a nasty slice out of nowhere. Watched this and realised I had slowly developed a weak grip without realising. I jotted down some notes, took a trip up the range, firmed up my grip significantly and hit a bucket of balls. It took a few attempts to get used to new grip position, but then I found that not only had my slice disappeared but by removing spin I was naturally getting more distance. Rick Shiels, I thank you!

This was ridiculously helpful, especially with the visuals. I filmed my swing after this and realized I have a massive outside to inside swing in downswing that I didn’t know about. Thinking about coming at the ball at 7 o’clock helped that immediately. Great to be able to think about why the slice is happening rather than just saying you gotta grip the club differently.

Rick: These videos are hands down the best slice videos i have seen. Purely because throughout the way its explained doesn't get all overly 'golf-sciencey'. One bucket of balls following these videos has solved my slice, the issue i have now is doing this 'set up' more consistently. Nothing worse than having a slice on day and a hook the next!

Just want to say thanks. This is the only lesson I have ever had. And I say lesson because this taught me some things that I took to the course and hit booommmmbs. I have always hit super long for people I play with. 250-275. But it was never consistent and straight. I got the SIM2 9.0 Driver and with this video today on the course I murdered the ball. So straight and long. I am carrying 300 with the prettiest draw. For me it was really the tilt, visualizing to hit the ball on the upswing, 7 o clock, and the shoulders back is what did it for me. My grip, line, and wrists were all doing the right thing. I know you'll probably never see this. But thank you for putting this info out in a digestible way. For real.

@gothenburg01
@gothenburg01 5 жыл бұрын
Guess what the most difficult thing for a habitual slicer is when following these steps? After managing to close the clubface through impact and then managing to occasionally hit the ball from the inside (7 o’clock) - the biggest problem is to trust it - and that takes hundreds, if not thousands of reps. You are so used to doing everything to avoid the right side of the fw or rough so you tend to miss that 7 o’clock and come in to the ball straight or from the outside with much worse results than the slice ever was. You can’t quick-slice the ball but you can quick-hook it. The only consolation is that you now know how to close the clubface. The above said, this is an excellent tutorial that should benefit every golfer who is willing to do the work. Me, I would prefer to find my trusty 5 yard fade again. 25 years ago with the balata ball and much less forgiving drivers, I couldn’t miss a fairway even under gunpoint.

Rick. Your videos on this subject are the best I have seen (imo) and have helped me very much. The graphic showing the face of the clock is the single vision I return to as I tee and address the ball with the driver on the course. My driving has improved significantly since I watched your videos first time late 2018 and I return to these when I start slipping back into a fade. When I watch these back I pick up on the other techniques you suggest and it comes together again. It seems that unconsciously my swing will produce a fade / slice but I can and do overcome it when I go through all the techniques you suggest. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together and including the graphics which make it easy to picture what's required. Getting control (rid of) of the slice has made my golf far more enjoyable so thanks again.

Wonderful educational, Rick. After watching this, I ran downstairs to my garage to take my old Callaway Warbird off its shelf. It was a driver I often sliced. Sure enough, the wear indicates most of my hits were in the bottom right quadrant of the face. I’m going to test it at the range tomorrow. I’ll tee it half an inch lower and adjust my stance to be an inch further away from the ball at address. I bet I’ll hit it well.

Now this is the real deal. An actual lesson. This effectively coaches you eliminate one side of the course. If you stand on the tee with the confidence to know you've eliminated one side of the course it makes the game so much easier. You also get to be able to manage your miss which will no longer be a wild slice but rather a hook. This is proper coaching for the slicer. Great video series.

What a great series! Great tutorials! 6 weeks ago I just got back into the game after 33 years of never hitting a single ball, and a few weeks ago I managed to cancel the slice I was hitting and go left, then I started getting 7 out of 10 shots straight, but I would get a fade shape with the rest, then after joining a club and leaving the range behind, the slice slowly came back, then I messed with the loft and lie of my driver, which is a real learning curve - no pun intended! Now it's back to 8 out of 10 slices! 🤯🤬 This all makes so much sense with the extremely thorough visuals. I've been trying so hard to work out how to get that draw shape. You've clearly put a lot of work into making this series. I'm going to go to the range later and try all of this out. Thank you so much for making these videos! Liked and subed!

So I basically tried all these at the range today. Stronger grip, especially holding the club with the fingers, and swinging more around my body instead of a follow through that has the club finishing high up in the air. What really worked was fixing my swing path. Key to that was squaring my feet to the target and closing my shoulders. I had never heard that before. Bingo! That one move really promotes an inside to out swing path and had me hitting great drives that were straight or slight draw. Wow! Very impressed. Can't wait for my next round.

The take away helped me so much! I went straight to the range after watching and was immediately hitting better balls. Feels goofy but I heard if it feels terrible thats how it should be with golf. 😂

It's almost ridiculous how all Ricks videos in such simple steps keep fixing my issues. Took it to the range yesterday and smashed straight 200m (hcp 26) drives over and over again, it's hard to believe that I just the other day hit random banana shots. Step two, the alignment of the club face (due to faulty twist of my wrists) did the trick and the added bonus of striking it from the inside made it either straight as an arrow or with a small draw. The draw made me feel professional...:D My hat off for you Rick...again

Have implemented your guidance and although not there yet i can see major improvements. Your series is excellent frankly and extremely helpful. Not too many pointers and the message is clear and concise. Thank you.

fellows, it works. I've tried it all: spent hours watching youtube videos about the "secret" fix to your slice, I've dipped into my savings for private lessons, I've read the cover off that damn Ben Hogan book, and I'm here to tell you that this is the secret. I did everything in the first three videos he said. 5 trips to the range later and I'm pounding balls straight down the line with my 4 iron. Not sure if I need to see the fourth video but I'm doing it anyway. Thanks so much, Rick. You're a god

No bullshit this video just cut 10 strokes off my score. watched it, went straight to the range, then played 18. I'm not even used to the new grip and swing path yet and it turned my game around. Thank you Rick.

I’ve only heard people teach the grip and takeaway tips. Swinging inside out feels so counter productive but we will give it a shot

This is brilliant. I have been bending my left wrist the wrong way all my years golfing and no pro has ever spotted it. Striking a lovely fade now 👍

I’m glad I watched these videos! Luckily I was one of the few that just needed to adjust the grip! Still watching the series to improve elsewhere but got it going straight now! Just working on distance now average only 220 yards 😕

@rickschieldsgolf just watched these and tried fixing the swing path thru 6 & 12, i didn't even realise i was coming in on the angle, still need practice to make this new habit but this was priceless information for a serial slicer!! cheers

After so much practice, I'm finally on the final step, trying to close my shoulders and swing differently. Its so hard to switch up the swing now after all this practice with an incorrect swing
