A Fixers campaign led by Sandy Campbell: www.fixers.org....
Concerned that life in the Scottish Highlands can be an isolating experience for young people, Sandy Campbell and his team want more support for those living in rural communities.
The 17-year-old from Lochinver, Scotland says there's little for others his age to do, and what prospects there may be are often inaccessible due to poor transport links.

Sadly the future for rural Scotland will be holiday homes and posh English accents, check out Skye if you don’t believe me.

@Scimmia the reason so many left was due too the highland clearneses. Amd there are lots of problems haere just as there are in england. You nothing about the living condions or people here you are not from here so dont talk like you all the knots. And im no exactly happy with the emigration here but its not like the english do the exact same

I wonder how many people (young people) left in the Highlands come from Highland families..

My Grandfather and a lot of his siblings moved from Ullapool to London.. Too remote for him. Some of his children in turn when grown in London emigrated to New Zealand.

@@kfwfb534 I wish I knew..It seemed that a large amount of young people left when they could.. It seems life was pretty tough up there, and very strictly Religious! Grandad was beaten severely for reading on a Sunday..It was only meant to be the Bible one read, nothing else. It is probably not dissimilar to Ireland, where many young people leave. How about your Family? Have they Highland roots?

@@Oakleaf700 I have no Highlands roots, I am from the Scottish central belt so the Highlands are quite a mythical place. I believe Ireland is quite secular now but the country does not have the mountainous culture of the highlands
