We use Romraider to reflash the ECU with a forester map. During the drive, we monitor ECU function on the computer.

carful when rewireing anything related to the can bus system. the communication protocal/ error checking actually uses wire length. it measures data transmitted vs received times for some of the error checking. small changes are no big deal but for each foot of exstended wire the computer will see two feet of difference in the data timing... its a funky communication protocol made by germans

I bought a salvage 2003 PT Cruiser GT - the one with the 2.4 Turbo motor from the SRT-4... Got lucky as hell, only 25,000 grandma miles. Water was up to the doors in Harvey but not much got in the car, even the carpets still smelled fresh. Minimal cleanup, no repairs were necessary. 8 year old tires were dry-rotted, chrome wheels were peeling from age... Bid $525, paid $900 out the door fees and all. Had to buy new tires/wheels for $800, so put it at $1700 for an extremely low mile turbo project. Had it for one month, already modding and trying not to break things when the boost kicks in. Gonna need uprated motor mounts post haste LOL... The wheel hop is real. If you are careful you can get a great bargain project on Copart. And so long as I don't break parts then I'm ahead. The value of that car is about $1500.

For the GT, a bit more than that on retail actually. And with the low mileage, value is less meaningful than the usage one can get out of it. You will not find a GT with 25000 miles anywhere for $1500 that's not salvage. Bid $525 and after fees and everything, still only $900 out the door. So not too bad.

Maybe make sure there is no water in the door panels and rocker panels, then squirt some patrolium jelly or transmission fluid down into the bottom seams, to stop rust.

We had to drain and fill 5 times on my buddy's ford auto to clear the Trans but still had bad clutches on 2nd due to water

I would probably get some cheap bucket seats and gut it / bedliner . damn this could make a sweet rally car with a six speed and perhaps get a front mounted intercooler/bigger turbo

You blew all the fish out the exhaust the first power brake run. Best way to get rid of mold is gasoline and a match. If you soak and rinse a few cycles in the tub with laundry detergent then wet vac it as much as you can put a space heater on it a couple hours.

It looks like you was driving it with out the air box and MAF if so that will cause a lot of your power issues. If the center diff keeps feeling like its binding that is a common problem for those transmissions and you can buy the Rostra Transfer Case Solenoid Kit For Subaru Outback Forester 52-0527 74871TF off ebay and that will fix the problem.
