Fixing A TON of overheating problems on my TURBOCHARGED Fox Body!!

MY TURBOCHARGED FOX BODY KEEPS OVERHEATING!! In this video I go over a ton of problems and go over how to fix each one! I end up finding the overheating problem but it definitely took some figuring! And the turbocharger just was adding to the headaches and overheating.

I have a turbo fox and mine climbs to 235 when I get into boost. Cruising it's at 187. Upgraded 3 core radiator, stock fan and shroud, replaced waterpump, underdrive pully, and burped the system. The only thing left to check is my fan clutch. Thanks for the video hope it fixes my issue

Haha good job! The whole time I was watching this after you installed, bled the coolant and it still got hot I was like check the fan clutch !!! My car did the same thing. Just slowly started getting warmer and warmer over time in traffic I could spin the fan and it would just spin freely. I bought the heavy duty clutch also and bam she was good to go! I just swapped to contour fans but the new clutch fan was only loud when I'd first take off after the car sat for a while. Glad you got it figured out! 👍

I don’t know why I just assumed the fan clutch was fine 😂 I can’t believe it took me so long to catch on!! Hahaha ok good I was worried about it being to loud but I’m going to do exactly what you did and swap to contour fans at some point I just didn’t want to deal with wiring just yet lol but thank you and thanks for the comment!

That turbo does get hot. Getting a cowl hood will help with keeping things cool under the hood. Just a thought.

Oh I agree I definitely will be getting a cowl soon but probably only a 2-2.5” one! Waiting until it’s ready for paint lol

I’ve been waiting on my TerminatorX for 3 months now. I have the on3 kit but can’t do much without the terminatorX. Everything I try to order is on back order or is just out of stock. Hopefully I’ll get my Foxbody done 1 day lol.

That’s one of the reasons I went with the PiMPxs myself everything is still taking forever to get! Yea I think when I looked into the terminator it said up to like 4-5 months 😳 but you’ll get it and be driving in boost soon!! 🥲😂

I have constant overheating issues with my 351w turbo setup and Holley. Pos just doesn’t get worked out

I know these little problems are a PITA that’s one of the reasons my videos have slowed down! But we will both get there eventually!

Just get a SN GT fan with dual speeds, mount it and have the liw speed for AC and high speed come on at 205 off at 190 and never look back

I’m going to go to an electric fan setup soon! I just didn’t want to deal with the wiring just yet because I’m wiring the new PiMPxs in and I just figured I’d do it later. But you like that fan?? I’ve been hearing contour fans and someone on the turbo foxbody forum SWEARS by the 2005-07 focus fans lol

@@iamchazhaynes7074 the SN/New edge, Focus and Contour all draw 3000-3500cfm on high speed so any will be fine just imo the GT is a simplest to mount and least amp draw of all i have checked. Ive seen 3290cfm on a stock SN radiator and 3160 thru a dual 1” core radiator so cfm will depend on the fin count and design, usually the 3-4 cores seem to kill more cfm and also create more amp draw from said restriction. Pick whats easiest to mount out of a factory fan and enjoy but just an FYI...my dual core radiator had a 10” 900cfm fan and cooled my turbo 5.0 just fine and rarely saw 200* after four 1/4 mile passed back to back then cooled back to 190 before the ET shack so any stock fan will be fine. Also wire it so the Pimp can control the fan

that’s a lot of good information! I’ve been making my head spin reading forums on which fan is best but that’s kind of what I was thinking as well on what fits the best I was going to go to the junkyard and just see which looks and fits the best for the car but yea the 3 row probably wasn’t the best choice after the research I did I should have went with something else especially not the SVE. The radiator is sub par in honesty, I just got it on sale 🤷🏼‍♂️ and I will definitely have the Pimp control the fans! Lol

@@iamchazhaynes7074 that radiator will be just fine unless you plan on running road course with it and if so the cooling would be the last thing i worried about lol, good luck man hope to see some low 6s 1/8 mile out of it soon

Well it wasn't too bad, after spending 500 bucks and figuring out that it was only a jacked up $20 fan clutch. 😂🤣😂 Im guilty of the same thing But you're good to go now and you won't have to worry about any cooling issues for a while which is probably good that you replaced all of that stuff anyway because you don't want some old parts to ruin your new engine, I just went ahead and replaced all of that stuff to begin with and I have a underdrive pulley but I have a high volume pump to make up for it so that it will still flow good so you can probably put the underdrive pulley back on if you have a high volume pump and get some contour fans to keep it cool and get your hoss powah 💪🏻🐎 back 😂🤣💪🏻 I can tell that was really driving u insane 😂🤣

That whole ordeal was soul crushing!!! I’m just happy it got figured out! No matter what you do, that stock fan will never be enough to cool your engine especially now that you have a turbo, you need to step up to electric fans, until you do so, your just throwing away money.
