The handle rubber is around $12. Part number 6EG-G2177-00 Already bought a replacement for my 05' 25hp since I saw a crack. My 99' 6hp takes the same rubber too. I keep extras on hand.

I'd check spark plug gap, analyze the plug ceramic for color/jetting issues. Clean the carbs and check that the linkage between throttle butterflies is synchronized (both carbs fully returning to idle and also both fully opening at full throttle). I'd check the fuel filter as well. I'd also check the prop for large dings and that its the correct diameter and pitch. I'd also replace the lower unit oil and impeller if they haven't been done recently. If none of that makes a large improvement, i'd check compression as well (you could do this first or at any point really). With a well running and correctly propped 25hp, you should be able to hit~25mph.

Hey man I have the same motor. However someone decided to paint it camo! They painted over the serial plate. I can tell it says 25ELH, I looked up and it says it might be a 2006-2008. However I was looking at yours and mine does not have that aluminum grey plate on the left side. Do you know where can I figure the exact year of my outboard? I am trying to buy a new water pump and carb kit. Thanks man!

I have a 1995 yamaha 25 (2)stroke. I'm having an issue with the pull start mechanism. It pulls out and retracts easy enough, but it takes an act of congress for it to catch and spin the flywheel. It has some kind of weird spring and small white plastic piece. Have you ever heard of this problem?

Hey, quick question. I just bought a boat with a 06 Yamaha 25hp, I was on the water today after cleaning the carb and it was running good, idling for about 10 minutes then started to go out and the motor quit, took awhile to fire back up got it going then quit again, and I couldn't even pull the pull starter felt locked up. It cooled down then free'd up, when it runs on the hose it doesn't squirt the water out the side like yours does? Over heating problem possibly, bad impeller? What you think.

It sounds like you have overheated your block. Did you run the mix too lean (if 2-stroke), if there is no "pee" on hose it sounds like your impeller.

I would say "yes" to over heating. Especially if it starts back up after it cools down, plus the weak stream, tells me, it's time to change the impeller.

Just cleaned my carbs new fuel primer ball and line brand new fuel filter OEM installed , new coils and new plugs. And fresh non ethanol fuel mixed 50:1…. Why is my sweet Yamaha 25 not idiling !?!?!? Help me out man it runs great wide open just can’t come to a stop and it stay running and idle at all . Also when I flush it it sometimes idles. It it pops and sputters and kinda sounds like it is missing But it’s got new coils . Are the carbs not synced right or my air fuel mixture not right ?

What year motor? Newer models use 100:1 gas/oil ratio. You might be running too rich? Did you try turning up the idle?

Can you help me with a 97 yamaha 30 horse oil injected electric start. Runs fine at idle and low power. When I power it up it sputters and the light comes on? Light indicates both temp and oil.

Is the oil injection working? I would run premix and forget about the injection. If the injection is not working, that maybe the cause for it running hot and the oil light letting you know, there is a problem with the injection.

Great videos!! I have an '08 25 hp Yamaha 2-stroke and this was really useful. It had been sitting a long time. I've got it to start but will only run 15-20 seconds before it dies then it takes a while before I can get it started again. I fogged the engine real good and changed out the fuel hose. I'm going to try spraying some carb cleaner into the air intake trying to avoid getting into the carbs. Do you have any other suggestions? I've also heard you mention detailing the engine but haven't seen a video on that. Can you explain what you do and how you restore the cowling from sun damage? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the same motor. If the carbs have sat with bad fuel they will need to be cleaned. I just bit the bullet and bought two new carbs for $460 bucks from parts vu online. In my opinion if your carbs need a rebuild just buy new ones unless you really know what you doing. You need special screw drivers to work on the carbs and if a mechanic suggest a rebuild He is making more off labor to rebuild them then brand new carbs cost. Mine is perfect after new carbs new lower gear oil change new plugs new fuel filter and impeller.

3A you may want to first try to remove the carbs from the motor and give them a ultrasonic bath a shop would not charge you much to use their machine or can buy one at harbor freight. I tried to clean mine on my same 08 25hp but they needed more work. they sat a few years and were filled with white paste inside from the fuel and corossion . My Dad has a 2006 15hp it only has one carb and He was always cleaning it. It would run fine a week or two then bad again. He finally just bought a new carb his was only $85 for the 15hp model and its ran great since no issues. I just got my 08 25 on my 10 foot rib dingy last night took it to the beach it flies. I had only a 2.5 putt putt motor before the 25 put a smile on my face I had to be going 30mph or so. OK good luck with your Motor I called like 4 places Parts VU online had the best price on our Carbs oem Yamaha.
