before giving away a spare rider i'd had for years , i decided to mow with it . discovered starter dragging (i'd ignored it for years) , traction clutch mechanism not releasing , and a few other things that needed attention . it had always been nearly trouble free , and i thought it was ready to make someone a good mower . good thing i decided to try it out first .

So in addition to a bad valve clearance making it difficult to start while it’s hot, doesn’t a bad valve clearance also cause the rope to be hard to pull and cause that hard pull back from the rope when it snaps out of your hand almost ripping it off?
@gknife14996 ай бұрын
Sometimes carburetor fails / leaks gas into the cylinder. Adding too much oil past the full mark or tipping the engine on it's side causes oil to leak into the cylinder. Hitting a stump or rock can shear the flywheel key. Check each of these things if you're in doubt. Bad / leaking carburetor can also fill your crankcase with gas which can ruin or damage engine bearings. Good luck! 👍
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE6 ай бұрын
yes but the exhaust valve would have to be out by a mile. Something over .020"
@lewiemcneely91436 ай бұрын
I always ran whatever I was working on myself to see it was o.k. and if the oil lioked grungy I'd change it and maybe fill it with poil and diesel and run it for a bit idling for a flush and then refill it with the good stuff. If it was runnable it usually stayed here or went runnable. And if it was there, you checked it, period! Thanks, easy week and Blessings

If at all possible, have your buyer try mowing with it, to verify that they are OK with it. It's a bit of a cover your tail move.... but sometimes bad happens.

wow.. that's a lot of trust. They use a mower and the fuel in it, and then decide if they don't like it. Too much risk and time invested

@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE I think you misunderstood my explanation. Thank you for looking at my repaired mowers. Please try the models you are interested in here on MY lawn, and select the one you like best. Let them take a few passes down and back so they feel like they've tested it out.
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE6 ай бұрын
thanks for the clarification, but I only sell one mower at a time. Yes having them start it and use it, are part of the process, but I won't let them cut my lawn with it.. Still good advice tho
@blazuma1116 ай бұрын
If only I knew after spending four-hundred dollars on what is now considered one of the worst lawn mowers (at least honda engine) of all time with such poor reviews online, (literally 2.5 to three stars) then I would've definitely have stayed away from the Craftsman M250 Honda mower, as the honda mower is what caught my eye. After owning it for a little more than three years now while still changing oil and the filter often, I never went into anywhere near as much detail in maintenance as you, the carburetor is likely almost plugged up now and likely the rocker arms are slightly misaligned, which is probably why it won't start on the first pull sometimes. I've been watching your videos for about a month now and really do learn and enjoy from them! Just keep up the amazing work!

I had a friend do the oil change on my walk behind trimmer it runs nice and he told me to use 100% gas ethanol gas was the problem it just needs the belt changed for the string engagement and it’ll be perfect I think making sure everything is perfect is the best thing people should always like to please their customers a high quality product is what is best to sell to people my motto is do it right the first time that way you don’t have any headaches later we are going to have our friend teach me how to do an oil change on my walk behind trimmer so I can do the oil change myself every year I want it to last a long time it’s got a super reliable and long lasting Briggs 190cc flathead if I take excellent care of it it’ll last decades we are going to put 100%gas in it so we don’t have any problems with it it’s a great trimmer I found out my trimmer was discontinued so I had to get an aftermarket belt for it but that will do at least I could get a belt for it now it’s just a matter of waiting for the belt to be delivered then we will take it back to our friend to have the belt installed then itll be perfect than I can enjoy trimming with it

When you check/adjust the OHV do you clip or strap the bale bar? Also when would you check the clearance on the coil? In addition, what gap do you use on the RC12YC spark plug? Thanks in advance.
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE6 ай бұрын
yes I strap the bar down, but it's not need. It's mainly to make filming easier. I only check the clearance on the coil when I have spark problem that's causing a no start or running issue. I use .025" but I think the manual recommends .030"

Hey bro what's up? I was wondering, when selling or buying any piece of equipment have the owner told you that the equipment isn't working and they are selling it as it is? Also after the transaction is completed, their disclaimer is announced saying all sales are final and there is a no return or money back?

A merchant should provide the best merchandise to the customer for the price. If you tell them $25 it runs ..I cleaned the carb... then they know they are getting a barely fixed junker. If you say $150 for refurbished or fully serviced mower, running well then I would assume you did everything you showed.

I would hope so. I've seen some for that price and they barely run.
