I have had one of these hyper tough mowers and to say the least they aren’t that bad
@joshmanis98602 ай бұрын
They are cheap and get the job done. I prefer my toro for the adjustability

There is a ptoduct call Fluid Film that you can spray on a couple times of year and you will never have a rusty mower and it will clean easily.
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE2 ай бұрын
is it expensive? Why not just use waste oil and rub it on the underside?
@MUUKOW32 ай бұрын
@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE It's a coating that protects from rust ,it is just a spray can like WD ., I spray it reel mowers to keep them from rusting, mower decks ,even under the Jeep. It's like 10 bucks a can .

I see but waste oil is virtually free after draining it. A rag will work fine.

I am a fan of buy once - cry once when it comes to a walk behind mower - get a mower with an aluminum deck...still important to scrape it regularly throughout the season (at least weekly for me in a commercial application)...this will prevent corrosion - aluminum still corrodes - just differently and it allows for the proper airflow under the deck ensuring the best quality cut. When it comes to ride on mowers - look for fabricated steel decks with as heavy gauge steel as possible vs stamped steel decks - those will rust through in short order if not cleaned up regularly. Cheers

Aluminum decks are hard to come by now. You must be getting commercial grade then? Maybe Exmark, or Toro ? That's going to be a lot of crying.

Those models can't afford to loose much strength. They seem to be super flexible. They are very light. If a person keeps the oil level up and changes the oil they will last a while and are a fine light duty trim mower..I would never buy one new. Too expensive. I buy and sell used.

you are completely right

I rinse every use and it is well over 10 years old and still strong.

@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE When the clippings are still wet, it comes right off. Let it sit and then no need to scrape or pressure wash it. Oh and after rinsing the deck I start the engine back up and let it run for a few minutes to dry it. It is a Craftsman so I have been through many sets of drive wheels but it runs perfect. Oil change every year and check all the bolts. Only thing I added to my routine is taking the wheels off to lubricate it. Can't say I notice a difference but it makes me feel good.

I like your logic and reasoning, that's more than enough to convince me.

Honda has a plastic deck... Other brands have a stainless steel deck... We've had mowers for 10 years never cleaning the bottom and didn't have the deck rust away! 🤣
