Looks good Daniel. I need to fix a wheel on my wife's Avalon. Not sure what direction I'm going. I've watched plasti dip videos for a while now. Never got the nerve to do it. LOL 🤣
@Turbo_Snail5 жыл бұрын
Yeah me neither. I just decided to pull the trigger as these wheels don’t have a matching spray can paint version. Needed a way to cover it up. I’ve been driving around for 3 weeks now and the still look like the first day I did them. Seems to hold up well.

@@Turbo_Snail I've heard the paint is durable. Cool!

Just a quick update. I had a flat, got it fixed but the tire dealer damaged the rim of the plastidip. When I got home I sprayed a little of the leftover plastidip paint on the scuffed area and it looks like new again.

if you don’t have a air compressor, use a leaf blower works just as good for this and drying your car after you wash it and the leaf blower is cheaper to buy .
@Turbo_Snail3 жыл бұрын
I’ve done leaf blowers before. The only problem is that it throws dirt particles back on your car. Not good if you plan on working on paint right after. My compressor has a filter in it. Even then it could pick up dirt from the garage or surrounding.

After filling in with the quick steel do you need to paint the wheel if I’m just going to plastidip or can I just skip that?
@Turbo_Snail3 жыл бұрын
You can skip that. Just plastidip right over it. I just tried to show the process if you were going to paint.

What color is this i cannot find it
@Turbo_Snail Жыл бұрын
It’s an old color. It was called brass monkey. Very nice when clean and the sun shines on it. What I learned is that break dust sticks to it and soon it’ll turn ugly. Almost impossible to clean. Check my other video where I remove it. It’s a pain in the a….

Hey would you happen to remember what sand paper you used?
@Turbo_Snail2 жыл бұрын
I usually use something roughy like 80-120 to start and end at about 400 depending how smooth I need to make it. When you paint you probably don’t want to go past 320-400 as there is nothing for the paint to grab onto. If you Sand after painting I’d progress all the way to 5000 grit and polish it out for a mirror finish.

Car wash and pressure washer is fine. Don't put new dip over old dip. Peel it and start fresh.
@Turbo_Snail3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great tip. I was going to try new over old to see how it holds but your idea is the proper way to do it. I’m struggling to find a good color. Let me know what would go on here?

How long did it last

It’s still on there a year later and it still looks great. No chips, I’m actually looking for another color to put over it.

@@Turbo_Snail oh wow! Amazing I want to do it I have a lot of rasher on my challenger but my rim is like charcoal gray I’m trying to find it
@Turbo_Snail3 жыл бұрын
I gotta say I never take my car through the car wash tho. But if you paint, go bold. You can always change color. I think it cost me $50-60 for the product. At that price you just get another color whenever you wish. The trick is to use all cans until they are empty. You need a nice thick layer.
@mykelahalston16903 жыл бұрын
@@Turbo_Snail me either to expensive i usually hand wash do it come off with hand wash? And yeah like two or three of my tires have it so I’m going to do all 4. So I’ll probably need about 4 cans I’m going to get it from auto zone how many cans did you use?
