I love risers. That little bit of plastic makes all the difference when rolling through the dusty, crusty streets.

No it doesn’t, just makes it less responsive

I made a tool to cut wheel wells, it slips onto your truck like a wheel and has a bearing mounted inside. The other side is attached to a drill. With the trucks loosened all the way you can start sanding wells in the perfect spot based on your trucks geometry. I did this to one board and decided it wasnt worth all the effort. Now I just stick to standard tightness Ace's and risers with 54mm wheels and no wells

I have a similar sander and decided to try it on an old board. It went pretty quick and wasn't hard to do. I think this is a great idea.
@keypitmovin6127 ай бұрын
There are different ways to get any job done, it worked the way you did it. Next time try a handheld belt sander, it should be easier. Don’t forget to seal it with something. Love the videos.

What you can do that I think would help, is to put on the trucks on and lean over to each side, marking with a sharpie right where the wheels touch, making that the center of your wheel wells, that way you don’t have to make them as big. I also think it would help to add lacquer on the wheel wells, and then wax it, so it’s smoother, rather than raw wood. I digged the vid, those back boards to hurricane uuuuu, didn’t know you had that in you!

I ride smaller wheels these days, but the last time i did 'custom' wheel wells, I just used an angle grinder with a flap disc on it, took about 5 seconds to do each 'well' :)

you ever think about trying a 8.5 Jacuzzi deck with wheel wells? specifically John Dilo's decks. dimensions are 8.5 x 32.3 WB: 14.5 , seems like it would work well for transition skating
@joshuafrederiksen7 ай бұрын
As you said there are many different ways to do this to a board, but if you wanted to try an even cheaper method I would use a rasp. They make many different sizes and shapes of rasps and they sell for $25 to $40. Rasps also work over and over whereas the sandpaper method gets expensive when you're using multiple sheets. Great video as always Zack!❤

When making wheel wells use a drill/drill press and sanding drum. They will come out much better - like stock wheel wells
@47303017 ай бұрын
I have been using a wood file that has a slightly convex side to it. Works great. Waxed the wells afterward to seal the wood a bit.

I skate aces without the bottom washer to get them extra loose but ride 62mm spitfires. I used to hate the idea of risers but felt like I needed them going that extreme

I've been thinking about making a wheel well on my board although i havent skated in a while. One thing i think is not nescesary is excessive wheel wells, the ones where it tapers right to the edge of the board. It may work for cruiser boards and long boards, but for skateboards, sanding off just the inner part where the inside corner of the wheel where it bites is enough for the wheel well. Plus... While typing my comment, you mentioned the circular wheel well at the end and that was what i was yrying to say. Although i havent come across one.

wheel wells job was a little painful to watch.... but bro I love your vids !!! I use a belt sander and center them to the inside bolt holes (good to get some wheel bite marks and then sand the correct spot)

A rasp or a rotary tool would be good to take out the bulk of the wheel wells.

A dremel will work perfectly so you can get the nice curve ark in the wheel well 👌 About $50 bucks from a hardware store.

Dremel too small, a larger diameter sanding drum on a drill would be better.

Dowdy! Your a business guy no matter how stupid it may seem, lol.❤ Try channel fishing, which bypasses KZbin's algo of suggestions and viewers & subscribers, and post content of other channels that would love to be seen by your viewers. ETC. KZbin locks me into suggestions and catagories and drags me off making it difficult to even find skate videos of things I can relate. I.S. Your skating flow and depth of movement is above par by the way. Stoked all the way! Anyways, content creators know better content, than youtube! Creators know specifics, too, like sharing, copy right, infringement, blah, blah, blah, what? By all means, keep stoking.
