After years and years of driving around with a noisy whine from my power steering pump I finally take a moment to take care of it.

I have a 96 that the power steering pump has also been loud for a couple years now. My experience with reman aftermarket power steering pumps has been a bad experience. They all have been worse and louder than the old noisy oem part that I replaced. I had to just finally buy a new oem part for it to finally fix the sound and be quiet and work nicely. I used Aldata to get the info for the bleeding procedures.

Can you show me the puller you used to get the pulley off. Great clip.

I have a P/S pump to replace on my 77 Chevy c-10 . Have you ever had problems with the old housing leaking ? I buy most of my parts off RockAxxx . Very surprised on how many parts for old cars they carry and good prices . They have p/s pumps with & without housing like yours . Always well done videos . Thank you .

My truck doesn't have the electrical connector (pressure switch for idle-up?) or the serpentiming belt (hehehe!). Can I use sympathetic motor oil in the crankcase? Just kiddin' - I like to make up my own words. Makes me feel purty smart!

My Grandpa did that all the time as well, I guess I do too. One local feller named Joe that hung around our shop (who wasn't too bright) had bad teeth and once asked gramps if he ever had pain. Grandpa asked him, "do you mean like HERMA-TOIDS (hemorrhoid's)?" And Joe replied, " are 'dem in the back of yo' head?"

Hehehe! That reminds me of my friend's mom saying another lady was having a "hysterectum". Barely able to keep from chuckling out loud, he told her "That sounds pretty painful" to which she replied "Some people it bothers a lot, and others not so much".

I would rather restore one of those older 90's trucks then buy a new one , there like a rock . I still drive my 91 GMC 1500 short box and did restore it here in Alberta Canada , kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3Onhqh-mKmkjZY

Why does a power steering pump have an electrical connector? Do you ever get the notion sometimes that automotive engineers are just sitting around looking for something to do?
@dustcommander100

I think that's a pressure switch to sense when the pump is working hard - and it may speed up the engine so it makes a little more power to compensate. And yes, people are sitting around thinking of things to add to cars to make them more expensive, both to purchase and to maintain. Nowadays, instead of having a linkage from the shifter to the transfer case, they have a little knob on the dash to turn, an electronic controller, score of feet of wiring, and an electric motor to move the transfer linkage internally. The added cost isn't just for the parts - it's also for the time a technician takes to troubleshoot the system. Obsolete parts causes the customer to trade it in, too!

Try not using Derek Bieri’s persona as much. It’s unoriginal & nobody’s as good as Derek.

Honestly 95% of the time it is actually me being me, but the remaining 5% a Derek-ism slips through and is almost impossible to prevent. If you're country, you're country.

@@TheJayhawker ikr! I guess that’s why we love him. He says stuff that I say, and I find so many similarities. I’m just not a genius Mechanic and love learning through him because it feels like I’m teaching myself. Wasn’t trying to be too hard on you I’ve got two OBS trucks in my driveway as well. My sons got the 98 Silverado and I’ve got the 97 GMC stepside. We love them.
