Agree… Just don’t have the money to make $40,000 mistakes. Could turn around a sell it but would then waisted all that time, energy and money on it. Want everything to look, smell, and feel brand new with my Aston because it’s my dream car. Some other car…. Would not care.

Top tip, never throw away ANYTHING till you've completed the car. Even little broken bits, odd bits ect :) Throw it all in the boot, if you discover you need it woop, if you don't need it then woop haha. Completing the car knowing you've not thrown away anything needed is the better feeling ;)

worst case with the spacer just remove the other one and give it to an engineer to knock up on a lathe

I did the same thing when replacing the track rod ends on my Aston but realised in time and swapped it over. I did talk to an Aston specialist about why the insert comes out with the track rod end. Apparently it's very common and they recommend loctite when reinstalling, which I did. They can only be bought with the entire upright as it's an integral part but as other have said if you take the track rod end out of the other side with the insert getting an engineering workshop to turn one up on a lathe to the same specs should be pretty straightforward!

Not interested in a project like this unless it was years newer, everything was flawless and the motor was blown. However, you got really luck on that purchase. Lack the personal confidence to work on something I really care about if I know nothing about it. My Vantage would be my child.

Mate couldn't you measure the widths of the other track rod insert, and use a normal nut that fits the thread turned on a lathe to the same widths? Just an Idea! Great video, looking forward to see it completed!
