YES!!!!!! I LOVE YOUR WORK. Such a good look at your painting process----the thing with so many AbEx/Gesture Artists is there are so many times I look at marks or brushstrokes they've made and wondered, "how did they arrive at that idea?!" Thanks for allowing us to get this close to your process!

There were so many moments when I wanted to call “stop!” I realize that is coming from my energy - that you hit a spot where it truly connected to me. Love that YOU knew when it satisfied you. Once again an EXTREMELY valuable lesson in the creative process. Thank you.

Sometimes I look back on progress pics and think "Why didn't I stop?!" LOL. Oh well, if it feels right in the moment, we have to follow our intuition, right? :-)

I felt the same . There where moments when I would have stoped . I guess this is what makes everyone unique and different in their art.

Great point that really gets to the heart of why paintings don’t feel right. Thank you so much Jodi!

Love watching your fixing the ugly middle process! The new rawness is exciting. Thank you Keep in mind acrylic has heavy metals that go right thru the skin. Ive been detoxing them for years so wear gloves now.

Jodie, I am painting with the canvas lying on a able. How do you attach it to the wall so it won't move around while you paint and yet you can just turn it around and stick it back on the wall the way you do?
@JodieKingArt2 жыл бұрын
I added 2 screws to the wall and hang the painting from the screws. Good luck!
@paulramsey29222 жыл бұрын
So you're not supposed to like what you paint. Is not being attached the same thing?

Liking your painting and being attached to it are two different things.

Christina I used an orange oil pastel by Sennelier

What about putting this blue paper when using oil is that ok To put spray on my painting to have lines going down I use white spirit
@JodieKingArt3 жыл бұрын
Although I've never done it, I think that would work fine. It may not have the same consistency since oils tend to be thicker.
@davidwilsonBC3 жыл бұрын
Do you ever use oil paints. I gather this is acrylic. Do you add a medium so it doesn't dry too fast?
@masonsmajstrla5253 жыл бұрын
I will paint in oil every now and then, but mostly acrylic. I don't add any medium but since I prefer to work layer over layer, the faster drying time suits my process. Thanks for watching!
@cimerakova5 жыл бұрын
Awesome Jodie :)) as always ;)) what type of pastel did you use for making the orange line there? Oil or this chalk type??

Jodie, How do you know you are making a mark or a painting that reflects you? I often feel I'm just horsing around, not sure why I'm doing anything on my painting. What let's you know your painting is about you and not just some nonsense in your brain?
@JodieKingArt3 жыл бұрын
As long as I'm enjoying the process. feeling really present while I'm creating, and following my intuition without fear, I consider it an honest expression of me. :-)
