The quality factor or 'Q' of an inductor or tuned circuit is often used to give an indication of its performance in a resonator circuit. The Q or quality factor is a dimensionless number and it describes the damping in the circuit. It also provides an indication of the resonator’s bandwidth relative to its centre frequency.

Ha ha! I got my Caig Labs De-oxit kit too. You're way ahead of me on the review! Nice to see you put it to good use!

There is something to be said for the worn look. It means there is a real history there! I’ve left several of mine in their natural state for that very reason. It was used! Lol..adds character!

Thanks so much for this video. I was having a weird problem with an Atari System 1. I put some deoxit on the connectors from the mainboard to the cartridge and now my issue is gone. It was like a ghost in the machine. I tried everything and I think it was just a connectivity issue. Thanks again! 💪🏻

Another great video Jason! You're not a sell out IMO if you'd normally use it and it works. It works! A+
@tigheklory4 жыл бұрын
Jason, you should pick up some D100 in the little nail polish bottle. You used D5, which is only 5%. D100 is 100%. It really works.

ARCADE JASON, The arcade game Joust uses many shift registers TTL chips tied on the data buss any reasons why? because most arcade games don't use multiple shift registers tied in parallel on the data buss lines.

Am I a sellout!?....Yup! Lol! That was awesome😂 As I'm getting a bit more comfortable with electronics, I'll have to get me some of this De-oxit stuff. Always great learning things from your videos, thanks man! Love that Berzerk btw!

Shouldn't the windows on those ROMs be covered to protect them from UV? I know it's inside the cabinet, but you never know.
@ArcadeJason6 жыл бұрын
several companies like nintendo for example never bothered to cover them at all and they have lasted 30+ years although some pinball did not cover their roms and they have been erased due to several years of direct fluorescent light exposure

Great video! In your Joust, do you still use the linear PS to power the coin door for test/service switch or does the Arcadeshop PS also power the coin door?
@ArcadeJason6 жыл бұрын
Chuck12 - very very good point even though joust 2 has the same power plug I believe the harness is different than other Williams games allowing the coin lights to work with the arcade shop adapter. I'll check when I get home just to be sure though

Thanks Jason! I have a Defender and I want to stop using the linear PS, but I'm not sure if the Arcadeshop PS will power the coin door and service/test switches?
@ArcadeJason6 жыл бұрын
as far as i know it will not power the coin lights in a defender but it you want you can add an additional (5v) wire directly to one of the lights

Nice video. Enjoyable watch once again. I really like the short silly clips you add at the beginning or end of your videos lol. Question, I know you do a lot of work on arcade monitors but do you have any tips for correcting geometry issues on consumer grade CRT monitors? I have a 1995 Sony that has some bending on the side and top corner. The service menu options can't fix it totally (picture still looks great) and I'm too scare to even attempt opening it up. Thanks

unfortunately my suggestion requires opening the case. but replacing the capacitors is usually the first thing to do

Did praying the dioxin on the black widow work? And what is dioxin anyway.
@ArcadeJason6 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't mean to put that part in the video lol the deoxit did fix the volume pot but I found I also had a crackly speaker. Since it looked unsure of what the real problem was I decided not to use that part of the video

Hey.. quick question... i sprayed my edge connectors plugs on pcb... and they feel lubricated... is it ok to plug it back in with it being lubricated using the deoxit
@ArcadeJason6 жыл бұрын
yes the oily stuff remaining is the left over mineral oil after the naptha has evaporated it is perfectly safe to plug it in like that. in fact the oil serves as a moister barrier that will prevent future oxidation

And leave the Joust 2 sideart as is. If you NEED to restore it have someone professionally touch it up by color matching. Todd Tuckey might know guys to do that. Keep it all original.

the patina is cool on the Joust. leave it. Watching electronic repair is like, nerd porn. You are not a sell out if you are using the products you endorse.... only if you sell stuff you wouldn't use.

John knows nothing about electronics repair. He just shotguns everything in the hope it works and sends his board off if it still doesn't work.

i do that too sometimes i would rather have new components on stuff especially if the original parts are corroded
