I think my favorite part about your “fixing/roast” videos are that unlike a lot of artists I usually see make these kinds of videos, you actually try to match the artsyle of the artwork you’re “fixing” instead of just making it look like your own artsyle. These videos are super entertaining and helpful! Love it ❤
@purplelily77649 ай бұрын
It’s crazy how a lot of the changes are just moving the artists own lines around and after it looks so much better. Like when she doesn’t even draw on top and just shifts the original drawing it’s like the original artist has the skill they just need some guidance in applying it.
@fennemon6 ай бұрын
that second example is actually so crazy, just the one change of moving the nose and lips down with no other alterations besides that immediately improved the anatomy and facial structure

The way you criticize, the way you work, the way you explain and advise shows just how of a PROFESSIONAL you are! The thing that really makes it impressive is that you fix and show a better version of the drawing without changing the art style and not make it feel like your own unlike other artists that destroy the spirit of the drawing rather than fix it. Nice work Jackie!!💌

I really appreciate just how respectful you are to the artist and their work. Usually when I see people attempting to "fix" others art, they unintentionally come across as rude or completely change the artstyle to their own without giving advice to improve (Kooleen is a good example on how not to fix someones art) but not only do you give actually helpful criticism and advice, but you keep the artstyle the same as the orignal while giving praise on what does work in the orignal

A lengthy comment to a small jump-cut at 2:47 I think one of the problems with the first drawing was the eye. Human eye physically can't rotate past 50 degrees, + the view cone is about ~40 deg (yep I googled). So even when going for the most bombastic sideeye, the eye can't look straight at you while the face is in full profile. On the drawing though due to quite a bit of white of the eye left of the iris it looks like the eye is staring straight at us, making it look uncanny. Jackie improved it by tucking the white space in, which clearly helps, but did not comment on it, so I thought I'd mention that.

I don't know if anyone has pointed it out to you yet, but just a tip, the drawing with the braids, they were drawn mostly correctly! They were drawing them not as braids that you would see in your hair, but as box braids which are tightly braided so they don't tend to be bumpy! In fact, if braided really small, the edges are so smooth that it moves and resembles straightened hair! I understand your critique, but I would personally consider the culture/type of braid before changing something like that, as the type of braid the artist originally did was an entirely different thing than what it was turned into! :)

Side note, the way you push the drawing to be more interesting and more dynamic really remind me of how drag queens really push their costumes to be these big amazing works of wearable art. I'll keep that in mind when working on stylizing my character designs. I tend to think of things as needing to be proportional like it would be irl, but the beauty of art and design and being able to really push those boundaries. Will be keeping that in mind more often now
