Y’all realize the artists didn’t choose the new character mold right? They are hired to create updated versions of the characters based off of a set art style. This is what the producers wanted for the reboot so it’s what they asked for. I think they rebooted characters are getting way too much hate and are honestly adorable. The only one I’d like to change is Lagoona. Everyone else I can see hints of their OG looks inspiring the new gen but with her I just can’t understand it as she feels like a completely different character between the new personality and character design. I just go into it with an MCU or DC mindset and say it’s a multiverse and it’s not supposed to be canon. I’d love if they ran with that and made a movie about that “Monster High: Two Worlds Collide”

I'm in my last semester and I would say I learned a lot, but it was not worth it for the cost of tuition. I was pushed in a lot of different directions my first and second year because of required foundations courses. My first year (and mostly my second) had nothing to do with illustration, and I was spending all my creative energy in those classes. The most requested courses for animation and illustration were always full or waitlisted by the time I would enroll so I didn't get into them. I enjoyed the work I made in my classes, but it's not stuff that I can use in my prospective field. Also, the critique culture at my university is bad. People are too scared to give actual critiques so they just end up complimenting the artist. I partially blame myself for getting so distracted by other mediums that I neglected growing my illustration portfolio, but I've heard so many similar things about burnout from my peers in the university that it's definitely indicative of a larger issue. I'm taking a course based on preparing for working in the industry so I'm hoping it leads to something, and I have a portfolio review workshop next week.

You‘ve said twice in this Video so far, that eyes don’t ever meet the outline of the face or stick out beyond the flush-line, and I think I’m not really understanding this right, because sometimes they absolutely do? In a classic 3/4 side view of the face they wouldn‘t, but in a 6/8 or 7/8 you’d see the eyelids curving around the sclera and the Sclera itself would form part of the outer profile line. Is it some animation specific rule, that the eye not break the head profile? Or is it because usually you‘d turn your head more if you were trying to make eye contact, instead of giving the most bombastic sideeye ever and would usually end up closer to a classic 3/4 anyways? Anyways, aside from my confusion, I absolutely love your critique videos, I can tell that you‘re taking great care in meeting the artists where they‘re at and respecting their design choices, while explaining your own choices very well.

"What an incredibly creative and relatable short film! The animation style is stunning, and the attention to detail really brings the story to life. I love how you’ve turned such a simple dilemma into a charming and entertaining narrative. Amazing work, Jackie and team-thank you for sharing this masterpiece!

hearing this makes me feel like im the only one that dont care. about anything than actually enjoying the creative process. i revell in making stuff, being art, writing even singing in my shower whilst crying. (maybe not the last one) try to detatch. look at it all like a mandala; a temporary expression of your inner self. Something that is at the moment and doesnt last forever. Posting on the internet is basically the same thing. Release it and continue on with your life/art and build that nihilistic view of being creative.

I could be wrong, but this art looks AI generated. Like, something about it is just really good, but not good enough to be man-made (???), if that makes any sense. No offense to the artist whatsoever, though.

I dont really like this 'fixing your art' thing, it shows that the person fixing it sees it as 'ugly' or a bad drawing. Not only that its an art style it also does upset the original artist, since it took them time to draw it, this is very wrong and i want this to stop

the people who’s art she fixes sends them in for feedback from her. nothing toxic.

theres art style and then theres an anatomical wrong art piece. Not to glaze but jackie is a professional artist that is just helping out people so that they get better at drawing. If u thing fixing = ugly than that seems like a you problem lmao

@@murrsiaa *think Also, there are some artists who do fix others art because they think it's not "right" and it needs a "entire fixing". I'm not saying she's entirely fixing their art or saying she's mean, I know she's helping the artists she fixes their art, I'm just saying that some advanced artists don't do that and it's disrespectful. I'm not saying she's toxic either.
