Here I am again. lol. Used this video 2yrs ago to change pads but didn't do a bleeping thing about the rotors. Now I'm grinding again and will be doing both pads and rotors. Aw, the mainstay videos. Gotta love the trusty ones. ;D ps.The grinding snuck up on me fast. Swear I didn't get a lot of warning. I swear. lol

Yep - maybe somebody out there will agree with you when you show them YOUR super awesome EFFORT. Its not good to take the splinter out of someone else's eye when clearly... there may still a plank in your own. This is very good, quit informative, and actually not all pads require copper grease on the back of them, as many now come with a built in elastomer, negating the requirement for anti squeal copper grease at all.

Sam, why did you take off the caliper AND the caliper frame? Doing it this way, you never cleaned and lubricated the caliper retaining pins that the caliper rides in and out on. Your way, you are leaving brake dust dirt and grime to prevent the caliper and brake pads from sliding back off of the rotors when the driver releases the brakes. It seems to me that your way will diminish brake pad life and cut down on your fuel economy. BTW, what happened to the brake pad retaining clips?

when do you replace the cap for the reservoir is that before or after you pump the brakes?

When you’re compressing the caliper piston, are you going by feel of tightened or are you looking at something lining up?

No replacing the anti-rattle clip?

By taking the calliper bracket off to do the job, that's not checking to see if the slide pins are free from sticking, and not greasing where the pads sit, it might be quick but not my way of doing it.

Hello, is that the correct jack point ? On my transit that area doesn't seem very solid.

other than forgetting the clip, this is exactly what I needed. hey break dust cleaning tolls, I believe this was made just for the basic mechanic's of the job. so he didn't clean the parts get over it you bunch of Nick-picking-ninnies

I just said fuck it and left my clips off. Hope I don't die!!! Honestly though; I couldn't get them bitches back on for the life of me. Is there a trick to it?

@@gotlogg - lmao... I had a bitch of a time 2yrs ago doing this, and will embark on this again next weekend. this time I've learned to get the danged $5 brake separator instead of using crazy C-clamps and all. As for the clips, I remember that was a crazy time. Got them on, then realized I did something else wrong or forgot something. Had to do it again!!! (cry cry cry) lol

You should use brake cleaner with a wire brush and grease everything back down

if you want the job doing properly take no notice of this vid wrong bolts removed to clean everything needed to ensure no binding occurs
@C.Church6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't help that you gave such a general criticism. If you really wanted to help, you'd say a bit more and say it more clearly. I have little idea what you mean. If they were wrong bolts, why not take a few extra seconds to say which were the right ones?

You're supposed to open the break fluid reservoir before you push the pistons back in.
@niptodstan9 жыл бұрын
He did.
@wingerrrrrrrrr5 жыл бұрын
It's better to open the bleed screw at the caliper when retracting the piston because that gets rid of the most contaminated fluid in the hydraulic system instead of pushing it back up into the lines. Should always use fresh fluid to flush and replenish when done too.
