I just bought a 2012 transit connect and your video helped me a ton. I know it’s just brakes but I’ve never dealt with this before. Very informative!!!🤘🏻❤️

This video is really clear and very professional, I recommend that you make more videos of other vehicle problems because you are very explanatory and very easy to understand. Thank you friend, the video was very useful.

Dude honestly you've made the best break video I've ever seen, I've got some CTE so my memory is kind of screwy so I like to watch KZbin videos to refresh it and you're by far my favorite creator

I've done brakes before probably a dozen times. The t45 bolt is hidden behind the rubber shroud. It took me a bit even knowing how brake systems work, mostly. Thanks for the video!

Hi, great video! I was just wondering where exactly you choose to jack up the vehicle from and where you put your jack stand?? From what Info I can find the transit connect is only designed to be lifted from a 4x point lift from the pinch welds…. It’s impossible to jack from the pinch weld and put the jack stand under it at the same time. It looked like you put the jack under the control arm? I have seen others say to lift under the control arm too. Just trying to figure that part out before I do the brakes on my dad’s transit connect work van. I had never run into a vehicle that didn’t have dedicated points for using a floor jack and jack stands listed in the owners manual…
@GrimRepair9 ай бұрын
At 1:00 it looks like I am jacking it up under the control arm (which I do often on many cars). The jack stand looks like it is under the engine cradle. I don't know if I lowered it onto the stand or if I just put it under there in case the jack failed. You may need a low profile jack to get under the control arms.

Before you put wheel back on, I always wipe down the rotor with brake cleaner, because no matter how hard you try... grease always gets on it.
@johnforeman6343 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Hey, would a 2016 transit connect be pretty much the same procedure? Thanks

It should be. I also have videos on the newer full size transits if it's not.

Great video! Few questions: I'd be attempting this on a 2009 Ford Tourneo Connect on the rear axel. Do you know if the piston has to be turned and pressed or just pressed? Would the tools that have right-handed threads work for both sides? (sometimes I am hearing that one goes clockwise, the other counter-clockwise...) Is this "Metal free permanent lubricant for disc brakes" good to put on the caliper pins, and also on the outside of the pads?
@GrimRepair Жыл бұрын
They should be the twist in type, I don't know for sure if they go different directions. I know the full size transit vans go both ways and you need the left and right hand threaded tool to do them. I have the caliper grease I used in the video linked in the description. Thanks for watching.

Get a couple rechargeable LEDs for those dark shots. Otherwise, I love the video. Great pacing and the right amount of explanation. Hoping the gen 2 brakes are similar, can't find a video for those. Off to Harbor Freight and O'Reillys!

Not too bad. I had to beat on the rotor for awhile to remove it. I applied some lube to the backside of the new rotor.

I think everything is pretty well outlined in the video. Use good parts the cheaper pads don't last as long.

Can you do the rear brake and rotor on ford transit connect. I could not compress the caliper (maybe a wind back) or remove rotor.
@GrimRepair3 жыл бұрын
I have this video on the full size transits it maybe similar. I no longer have the connect around, but if you tell me what year I maybe able to walk you through it.kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYmZZXWeq5J8h6M

I own a 2013 transit connect and want to improve rear suspension. I need to stiffen it up for days when the van is loaded with tools. IM I'm also curious if any other contractor types have suggested rear shocks. Or summo support type stuff. No helper springs. I've used them and am not a fan.

Nobody has suggested anything to me.

No anti-seize needed? Im about to make an attempt at this now. Please advise.
@GrimRepair Жыл бұрын
Anti seize won't hurt, if you're in a rusty area, use it. Where I am, I pretty much only use it on exhaust bolts.

Where do you get your gloves from? Also what's the name of that tool that you're using instead of a C clamp?
@GrimRepair5 жыл бұрын
The gloves are Ravens, I couldn't stand wearing gloves until I found them.I get them at oriely's. The tool is called a brake pad spreader there is a link in the description to it, you can also buy it at oriely's. Sometimes oriely's keep the gloves and this tool behind the counter for their commercial accounts, so you may have to ask for them.
