LA Noire really shows the strength of a tight story and experience. You don't need filler, although it does have that. The graphics can be a little bad, gameplay can be slow etc. You don't even need complex characters - a lot of characters in LA Noire are tropes plain and simple. But it has vision, it has passion, and it does what it wants to do incredibly well. Sure it's made to sell and make money but it's actual art and you can tell. The vibe and atmosphere it gives off is just incredible. And because of that, it sticks in your head, and means you will probably give a sequel a go even if it's different - just because the first was so memorable.

To me, the way to do a sequel would be to keep the same time period-ish and switch the city. So you could have NY Noire, SF Noire, Chicago Noire, which would keep a consistent branding for the series. Another thought would be to add smaller cases into the mix of the story cases. Blending them together so you pick up and solve cases as you go. It would only be as you investigate that the player would realise whether or not the case was a major one contributing to the overall plot or a minor side case. Although they could play with such a format such that a series of seemingly minor cases would pay off as a big one further into the story. Other thoughts are to vary the protagonist. Sometimes a police detective like Phelps, sometimes a private investigator. Of course the key to this would be to do a bloody sequel in the first place. But as you say, I think Rockstar's focus is elsewhere.

Went back for the Ps4 platinum last year and couldnt agree more with this review. as someone in their teens when it originally launched, i played this game decidedly dissapointed because i was an immature GTA fan at the time, so being limited to being a lawfull cop and not having the option to massacre the populace at my whim i became bored almost immediately. But returning as a jaded adult with more focus, i found myself totaly enthrawled in the story and the juxtaposition of its characters in the world.

The ugly side of Hollywood totally exposed, the quick and dramatic end of the Utopian dream of the future that was prevalent in the 60’s, maybe one man, perhaps a Vietnam veteran who witnessed a war crime has to have some kind of impact on reversing the all absorbing evil of the world by solving the murders of women and children, almost to redeem himself to the slaughtered souls that he stood by and watched be thrashed away.

As i've said since the game originaly came out back in 2011. L.A. Noire is a game that i have a slight love hate relationship with. I love it for what it is. But i kind of hate it for what it could have been. We know the development wasn't an easy one. Team Bondi is dead and gone for good reason. It was a mess of a studio. And hadn't Rockstar stepped in to help development at the end, the game would never have come out. So i 100% believe a L.A. Noire sequel made with Rockstar's love and care with some of the original staff hired in for the sake of continuity, would be a game of the year contender. I fully see your argument about the game being a non open world open world game being good. But i also think the game had a needlesly big world. Now, i wouldn't want to make the world smaller. Instead, i would make the game more dynamic. Not with a ton of sidequests like RDR2 and GTAV. But as in a story shaped by you the player a bit more. Fact is, in L.A. Noire you simply can't fail. What if in a sequel you can fail. And failing comes at a cost such as demotion. Like having to take on some smaller cases or work the streets for a bit. Naturally with interesting content to not make it a pain. I would also add optional life to the world. Such as an off duty mode you can opt into between cases. Where you can actually get a glimps into the family life of the main character. Giving you more of an idea of who you are. Maybe the option to go Bowling with your coworkers? Grabing a drink? Or buy a new uniform to stick out more. Totally optional side stuff that doesn't interupt the story. But allows you to getmore insight into the character you play as. So imagine that. A game that gives you the option to leave work and do something on the side without it being sidequests. And a more dynamic nature to the story where you don't need to click the right prompt to get all the details. Where you can push in other ways to get results. Maybe allowing you to be a corrupt cop? And then in the optional spare time mode, you can see how it effects the character. I just know that L.A. Noire only scraped the surface of it's potential. And there's way more they could do with the concept. As for a setting... I was thinking maybe 1960's - 1970's New York. It would 100% fit the Noire style. And it's a time periode that fits the gameplay. N.Y. Noire sounds nice. I just hope Rockstar can make a course correct soon and get back to what made them so great back in the day. Multiple franchises. Not just those that allowed them to bring in microtransactions. Not that a L.A. Noire Multiplayer couldn't work for a dedicated fanbase. If done right, it could be a nice roleplaying experience. But i don't think Rockstar is good enough at developing Multiplayer games for that.

You seem to have allot of the same ideas I have. I do think Random Encounters would be good for this as well As far as side quests maybe having Few like The Warriers which had really fleashed out ones. But I think Taking Inpriation From Witcher 2 With a braching story would be amazing.

In Kolossal’s “Dear God”, it should first be mentioned that Kocks’ prayers, while legitimate inquiries, are remarkably misdirected. Much of his peremptory and insistent tone does NOT square with the divine identity and office of God. Apophatically, we know that God is an infinite being possessing properties both immanent and transcendental (both existing in the human and empyrean/abstract realm of realities). Thus, God is not finite or limited in these dual categories- we may only be able to understand God through the persistence of a relationship, but it’s impossible for God to directly (and at all times) tend to the needs of the sublunary (all affairs of mankind and the earth). God is God, He cannot simply answer or save humanity within the terrestrial plane because of his unearthly, superior, and incomprehensible being. It’s therefore specious to assume that God, of all things, would somehow directly answer to Kolossal on matters of sexuality. Similarly, the crux of his questions is misguided. If God simply gave Kolossal His exact answers to these questions of homosexuality, then what would that SOLVE? It will certainly change his beliefs and thoughts, but it will most likely not advance him in his relationship with God through His virtues. Think about it. If God said “I accept gays”, would you be incentivized to carry out the fruits of God (kindness, forgiveness, etc.)? If God said “I disagree with the activity of gays”, wouldn’t that provoke outrage against God or a change of identity lest God condemns you? The first won’t encourage one to live out God’s word and the second will imbue fear or disgust towards God. NONE of the two, however, will make the world a better place in accords with God’s want. God could tell humanity his thoughts on everything, but why would he do that if these answers don’t inspire people to live the word of God? It reminds me of the story of the monk Mālunkyāputta, in which he demands the Buddha to answer his speculative inquiries on metaphysics, soteriology, and all existence. The Buddha replies, essentially saying “I could reveal these answers to you, who literally wouldn’t understand them anyways because of your limited and unenlightened worldview, BUT none of these answers are beneficial to my teachings. They will not provide salvation, nor will they bring about the Buddhist virtues to humanity. They are unnecessary and irrelevant to what our objectives are.” FINALLY- if God can’t answer these pressing questions, then what can answer them? Kolossal asks the right questions. Since we are all made in the image of God and have the power to carry out His teachings, it would make no sense for God to knowingly create homosexuals if they inherently contained an ineluctable and inherent unforgivable sin. There’s much debate about whether or not lustful same-sex relationships are congruent with God’s wants, but God strictly does not condone any sort of oppression. Even if homosexuality were a sin, it, like most other sins, can be forgiven and won’t preclude one from living the word of God. But perhaps Kolossal’s inner turmoil is the problem. He clearly expresses ire and disdain towards women just for being women. He also states that he wants to fuck guy in his family, which directly breeches Leviticus 18:22 (with the ORIGINAL translation), “and with male you shall not lie lying woman”, which refers to male-upon-male incest. Furthermore, Kolossal’s extreme concupiscence is a problem, seeing as his intense sexual drives blind him in his spiritual journey. When he begs the preacher to molest him, his lascivious behavior sweeps away any sense of morality or sympathy with the preacher. He should have thought whether or not the preacher would be comfortable with such an advance to begin with. When lust preponderates all, rash judgement and marred morality also come into the equation. That doesn’t mean however that Kolossal can’t be saved, even as the gayest alive. Kolossal should not look for direct answers from God, but should acknowledge his unchaste propensities first. THUS, Kolossal should be praying THIS: “Dear God, I understand that I can get carried away with my gay ass predilections and activity, but help me to not let them cloud my moral judgement. Help me learn to acknowledge my behavior and not let them continue incur feelings of incest and hatred towards women. Teach me to be an ethical gay man who, while being gay, can also spread the good teachings of you through our relationship”.

Why does everyone rag on tailing missions? I have never had any trouble in them unless I hit a glitch, got cocky/complacent, or just lost focus for reason XYZ. Why does every KZbinr seem to bungle them so easily? And then rag on them? You probably failed because you were so close you could smell what they had for dinner 2 days ago.
