I bought a 360 at launch just to be ready for Assassin's Creed, which didn't end up releasing until a year later. In the meantime I had downloaded all AC trailers and demos and watched them continuously during that time. I'll never forget my first playthrough, the weight of the character, the narrative's approach to history and philosophy within a sci-fi story. Not a perfect game but a special one whose most interesting aspects never truly lived up to their potential.

It's always interesting to hear people open up about their personal life, and how games figured into it. For some, games carried them through a rough patch in their lives. For some, a game struck them like a lightning bolt, and made an indellible impression they'll carry with them for a lifetime (i.e. like AC1 did for Fizhy). Games absolutely can inspire, uplift, and encourage. They are, in every sense of the word, an art form. Never let anyone say different.

I agree for the most part but i do like the narratives of the newer games, just sucks that there is so much filler in between that by the time you get to a new "main" mission, you can't remember what you were doing, but after refreshing my memory afterward, i was like "oh yea i remember that! this makes sense" they just need to make these maybe 35-40hr games tops, and then after beating the game, you unlock the side filler stuff for fun times and typical sandbox fun
@bavarianpotato Жыл бұрын
35-40hrs is still quite long. That's longer than any AC game except for odyssey and valhalla. Just for comparison: The entire ezio trilogy takes about 45 hours to beat.

It’s safe to say that AC1 is what solidified my modern gaming obsession. I remember being in awe of how smooth Altair moved and how awesome the combat was. It definitely had its shortcomings but it’s a masterpiece in my eyes for what it represents.

I know the company sucks D fizhy, but we cannot ignore the fact that they were an essential gem to our childhood, just like kratos, spider man ps1, etc. Keep it up homie 🔥🔥

Assassin's Creed was one of the first combat games I ever played. Never looked back since those good old days of AC2 on PS3 back in early 2017 before I got my PS4 that summer. Made my childhood and my teens. Gave me some important life lessons about life itself, taught me more about how to show my love for women in a better way (thanks to Ezio), and having a reason to stand up and fight. Just pure nostalgia these days, though I'll still play the new AC games. Still, shocking that it's been 15 years of AC in our lives 🔥🔝

Nice you pointed the gameplay changing focus over the years. People saying Unity's parkour is the best because it looks cool and realistic, it's hard to believe they even played it.
@Fizhy2 жыл бұрын
Unity’s gameplay is based in its aesthetics, it’s far from a bad system but it’s not precise enough to challenge the original parkour system. Even 3 & Black Flag whilst not flashy were animation based. The original 4 games’ parkour is the only system that provides player freedom really. Unity’s can be used to do some cool shit but it’s still somewhat imprecise.

Our story with this game is so similar. I had a PS2. But I'd go to my cousin's place where he had a PS3. When Assassin's Creed came out I happened to be at his place after he got it. I was blown away by how advanced it seemed. The graphics, gameplay and story were amazing. I was hooked. At that age my favourite thing to do was start a rampage at the courtyard in Acre and just kill as many soldiers as I could.

Oh, I remember how I got into this franchise. I was talking to a friend which console I should get, the ps3 or xbox 360. He just told me I definitely needed to play Assassin's Creed in any case. Once I finally got it, we only talked about this game. Any time we'd pass an old building, church or so, we'd talk about how we'd climb it. xD I loved this game so much and was so excited for the second one. Even the third one, but that game was terribly buggy, which made me incredibly mad. Wouldn't be the last time that I'd get mad, though.

I agree with everything that you've said except for the score being not memorable. It is insanely memorable to imho, I know we all love second game's music and I understand the love for Elio's Family (though I don't like that they cheapened it by making it the theme of the franchise), the first game's soundtrack is sooo well Meade it's insane. Jesper Kid really looked into the Middle Eastern music and produced something so immaculate, I can never get enough of it.

I disagree with letting it die. If Mirage is truly a return to form and is successful, then I believe they will return to that style. After Mirage, we need a Remaster or Remake of the first game(since it never got re-released like The Ezio Trilogy, 3, Liberty, Blackflag, and Rouge). Then, they can hopefully be fully back on track for what the fans of the earlier games actually want. For me, the last AC game that I liked was Syndicate because it still held onto and respected its roots while being different(it wasn't as good as Blackflag, and the games before it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as Unity, or the newer games).

The combat here was perfect, you weren’t a god with no challenge (although in the games reality, Altair kind of was) and not a twig who could break from a single hit; the combat can be based around your skill, for if you just counter, eventually the Knights will break your guard and half your health, but if you can take the offense, you can take guards out with ease. it doesn’t demand your mind to be clenched on not dying, and not able to kill guards with little challenge, it can be a genuinely fun time when you get the hang of it, but hey, not gonna tell you to play a certain way or your swine, offense and pure defense can work, as I just counter killed for years because of the satisfaction.

My love for the Assassin's Creed series began when I was introduced to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood back in 2010 I got it for Christmas of that year along with my first PlayStation 3 Assassin's Creed II and AC1. Ever since then I loved the old games including three and Black flag. I ignored Odyssey like the plague played origin strictly based on its setting because one of my passions is ancient Egypt and its history. A part of me is hopeful that Mirage lives up to the return to its roots and that it is a good AC game but realistically I doubt it because Assassin's Creed has completely veered off from what it once was. And due to ubisoft's interest in microtransactions among other things I doubt we will ever see a true return to what originally made Assassin's Creed great in the first place

Id say that AC has pretty much abandoned any over arching story. Even if there is one, its barely recognizable. I cannot tell you how Layla's story connects through each game. She's in a totally different area with different characters each time. However, this doesn't mean that the individual stories have not been meaningful. AC1-Black Flag are the best imo, but I thought Odyssey had a good story too when it came to the main quest and DLCs. Valhalla's story was ok and a little interesting, but way too bloated
