Great comparison between those two intercoolers. Did you notice a shift of the center of gravity after the installation of the Riva intercooler? I‘ve replaced the gen 2 Riva intercooler with the gen 3 from Riva on my 2016 FZR. Since the gen 3 is mounted on the port side, the ski slightly tilts to the left now at slow to moderate speeds. Did you experience that too?

@GreenHulkGarage2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t do back to back testing, but I’m sure it’s making a difference. The only downside is your front hatch is now open to the elements. If you ride in rough water you will undoubtedly get water splashed into the front hatch. I ride in flat water with mild chop at the most so I’m not worried about any water being splashed in.
@michaelwilliams1322 жыл бұрын

Hey Greg, I just bought a 22 GP1800R SVHO and am going to install a Riva Stage 2 kit. Just wondering how important the free flow exhaust is as I’ve heard there is minimal to no performance gain but have caused vibrations etc. what is your take on this? Also going to add the Riva intake grate, Ride plate and Sponsons. How critical do you think the Intake grate and ride plate are to acceleration and top speed?
@GreenHulkGarage2 жыл бұрын
I’m not the biggest fan of the free flow exhaust but I would definitely do away with the stock exhaust. The free flow exhaust does have some drone to it. I would do the rear exit exhaust. The stock exhaust is made of plastic and rubber and isn’t the best material to use on a higher performing ski that is creating more heat. The RIVA ride plate is a drastic improvement for both top speed and acceleration. Unless you plan on riding in rough water, I would leave the stock intake grate. The RIVA grate will keep you glued to the water in rougher conditions and improve the hole shot but some top speed will be sacrificed
@pacificpropertydarwin11272 жыл бұрын
@@GreenHulkGarage thanks so much for the detailed response. I almost exclusively ride in the ocean which is rarely super calm. I am a bit torn on wether or not to do the intake grate as I don’t want to lose top speed but wondering wether the benefit for some rougher condition improvement would outweigh losing some top speed. What’s your take on benefit vs loss of top speed? I am concerned about going rear exit due to drastically modifying the transom and drilling through. I also don’t want a super noisy ski that vibrates, would you say the rear exit is louder and causes vibration more so than the free flow exhaust. I also watched your video on the need to do the intake manifold upgrade which I will also do. Is there anything else you recommend doing that is bolt on that is going to help overall?
@GreenHulkGarage2 жыл бұрын
If you ride in rough water frequently then I would absolutely do the RIVA intake grate. The speed loss is very minimal and will go unnoticed unless you compare the GPS speed. It’ll greatly improve the ski in the chop. I haven’t noticed any vibration with the free flow or the rear exit; on a stage 2 I’d do the free flow at a minimum. Yes the intake manifold upgrade is NECESSARY! Unfortunately it is a flawed design from the factory but the intake manifold upgrade completely solves the issue. Stage 2 with the RIVA ride plate, intake grate, and intake manifold upgrade is absolutely perfect for a ski that will spend most of its time in rough water. You’ll definitely be satisfied with those modifications
