Excellent video, it’s very instructive to list all the tips and setup in the video. I’m thinking to get my first strobe light since I only have a Flashpoint R2 Speedlight. Do you recommend the AD400 PRO over the 600 PRO version? Is it possible to overpower a sunny daylight with the 400 PRO? Thank you!
@fjhphoto5 жыл бұрын
thekalforever I definitely recommend the AD400 Pro but if you live somewhere sunny and really need to overpower the sun the AD600 Pro will be better. The only downside of it is literally just a little more weight. That's it. The more power is really helpful for fighting the sun.
@thekalforever5 жыл бұрын
@@fjhphoto I live next to El Paso, and its pretty sunny here. Not having enough power to do a properly exposed photoshoot at noon (e.g. white sands) it´s basically what is holding my decision on.
@fjhphoto5 жыл бұрын
Definitely the AD600 Pro. I know some people in El Paso and you'll be fine with that light. =)

Francisco, I like it how you aren't intimidated by locations that many might pass over. You have proven you can take photos anyplace and make it look good! I noticed you put the entire strobe body (in addition to the softbox) onto the pole. Its just a suggestion but have you ever tried the head extension? It can really reduce the weight and make it easier for your helper to hold. I know its extra stuff but its can be a real back saver!
@fjhphoto5 жыл бұрын
MICHAEL MAH PHOTOGRAPHY thank you! I try to tackle any location. My favorite setup right now is the AD400 Pro and 34"beauty dish. The AD400 Pro doesn't have an extension but even if it did I wouldn't use it. Just not a fan of cords.

Nice video and Thanks for sharing the tips. One question i have is: I've noticed a small round ball on the monopod Ashley is holding at 11:05 Does it comes with the monopod or you bought it separately. If yes can i get a purchase link? Thanks once again

yves225CI it's the Photo Flex Litereach Plus. It does come with the ball on the bottom. Love that monopod. It's just out of stock a lot but this is my link for it: bit.ly/PhotoFlexLiteReachPlus
@yves225CI5 жыл бұрын
@@fjhphoto Thanks for the link. I wish i was able to buy that ball separatly as i already have a Monopod. But i will still keep an eye on it as it's a good one which can make the assistant more confortable in cas he wants to press the bottom of the monopod against his leg for more balance. It will definetly be my next monopod

I know this may not be on the topic but I really need some help. I have a Sony a7iii and have been using a Sony 85 1.8 and a sigma 135 1.8. With both of these lens I keep getting a message within a black box stating “ this function not available “ whenever I try to use eye auto focus. What can I do to stop this from happening throughout my shoots. I usually have to turn off my camera and turn it back on again for it to work but within a few shots it happens again. PLEASE HELP. Thanks
@fjhphoto5 жыл бұрын
JoAnn LeBoeuf I will ask some people about this but to my knowledge it's something that just happens every now and then. At the shoot I did today it happened with my Sigma Art 105. I don't have my firmware updated though so not sure if that contributes to that.
@mindcave4 жыл бұрын
8:20, um, that's what a light stand is for. Why do that to an assistant with a heavy strobe on the top like that? If it was an extension tube on the likes of an AD600pro, then I could understand it, but a full strobe? Not that hard to move a stand from spot to spot on the go.

How are you able to keep the whole subject in focus while using such a shallow DOF?
@fjhphoto5 жыл бұрын
Mark Brejcha with a lot of distance the whole subject can get in focus and you can still blur the background.
@markbrejcha31795 жыл бұрын
@@fjhphoto so would that distance change based off the focal length of your lens assuming the fstop staying the same?
@fjhphoto5 жыл бұрын
Mark Brejcha yeah definitely. So if I used a wider lens I could be at a wide aperture and still get a lot in focus. I remember one thing I did when I learned this was take a photo of things far away from me at a wide aperture and seeing so much in focus made it really click to me.
