Great video. I liked your demonstration of manual tuning for freckles and acne to bring back beauty marks etc. Can you create a preset that will also bring back the marks on a subject's face? Thank you!

@@fjhphoto So I got it. It gave me the option to select “beta” or “stable”. Obviously I chose stable. However, I was unable to download that version. The prompt I got indicated it was due to Apple’s inability to verify if it contains malware or not. But it did let me download the beta version. Did that happen for anyone else?

@@toddchati actually just installed it on my MacBook earlier this week and not sure if I saw that option. It installed pretty easily. I think my main gripe is even though I had a good connection it took longer than I thought to download.

I used it for a while now, it definitely isn't a one click fix everything solution but very good for speeding up a workflow. Personally I fear it will further hurt the prices of photography bookings because a lot of amateurs jump to a semi prof lvl fast with tools like this. I don't have any problem with amateurs but some of their prices are crazy, 100 bucks for a whole day shoot or things like that. It really hurts the industry that some people are just cutting prices like that and it's getting more everyday. Those people clearly don't live from photography but the entry point of doing photography has become so low that many people just do it as side job. So far I personally haven't had any Issues and didn't need to cut prices but some Photographers that I worked with had to close their studios already because people don't want to pay the price anymore. I think it is important to adapt and I also think if you use a software like this, make sure you can do it all by hand or otherwise you will have a huge problem if suddenly the software doesn't work for a shot.

I think programs like Evoto do the exact opposite of what you describe. It allows me to take more clients since I'm retouching less. People who charge little won't want to pay the $80 to use this program while others taking on more clients and can afford it will pay that. As long as you separate yourself from other photographers by providing better work and a better experience you will be fine.👌🏼

@@fjhphoto I Agree with the part that you need to separate yourself from everyone else and you will be fine but the first part I totally disagree with. Right now you can take more clients and you will see an increase in income short term. But what you aren't thinking about right now is that clients will expect you to lower your prices at some point because you are doing less work essentially. I mean currently prices are mostly based on the time you are working (+everything else ofcourse). So by that logic, if you edit 20 minutes instead of 8 hours, you should charge less. I hope you understand where my logic is coming from and I know short term it won't have an effect. But long term, If I want to hire a Photographer and I know he doesn't need time to edit or retouch, I wouldn't want to pay as much. My friend also has a camera and can take the photos of me maybe for free. Yes that person is maybe less skilled but I can also throw those images into a magic editor that will retouch them at a professional lvl. Right now this software costs 80€ but i will gurantee you in 5-7 years it will be a free app on every smartphone. That is just how technology is evolving. And Yes you can say that you can take on more clients, but again so will everyone else. The demand for photography is not high enough that every photographer will find double the amount of clients. The part that will make you money in the end is your creativity, I do not think that photographers will be jobless and there will always be a market. But this technology will be a blessing and a curse long term, I also stick with flash photography as that is something special that no smart phone can replicate anytime soon. The main reason I stick to flash tho is because I just enjoy it more and not because I'm scared to be replaced. One thing that I want to mention is that I know that softwares like this have been around for a very long time and have been used by professionals for a long time. Early versions of something like this where mostly photoshop plugins / actions. So this actually isn't something new entirely. The scary thing is more how widely popular and accessible these softwares are becoming, like I said, wait a few years and everyone has it on their phone. At the same time I am not someone panicing or thinking the world of photography will end. I will continue like before, just voicing my concerns too. By the way I love your content and I do think Evoto is a great plugin, have been using it since the start of the year.

⁠⁠I'm not sure how you work or do your business but the client wouldn't be aware of any less work being done. I don't update my clients on my retouching times and think that's the case for most people as well. So this idea of lowering your prices doesn't really make sense to me. If anything, it would cause you to raise your prices for expedited return times.

I understand you 100% but you are completely misunderstanding me. And I don't really want to explain further what I mean. I think we will just have to wait for the next 10 years to pass and see what happens. A lot of photography jobs have been party replaced by 3D in the product Photography area, I could see the same thing happening in a different way for other fields too. The most important thing is to keep an eye out for demand, right now I think it is looking great, more people are looking for photographers then before but there are also way more photographers around nowadays. Like you said, sticking out is important
