"Whistling at night" attract bad spirits is also found in Javanese culture in Indonesia. It's a "tool" from older people so we dont whistle at night, disturb the neighbor

One of those Surinamese living in diaspora in The Netherlands is Jeangu Macrooy, who was the Dutch representative to the Eurovision Song Contest hosted in Rotterdam this year. (He was also going to represent them last year, but that contest was understandably canceled.) The song was sadly one of (an unbelievable) four that got zero points from the voting public. :(
