It's supposed to be like "Lavender Castle" if you remove the extra letters (a ton of people put emphasis on the VEN which sounds super weird to me!!) (yes it's an L not an i)
I was thinking of rebranding to a different name entirely, but that's too much effort and a lot of people would be confused sooooo... yeah. Also fun fact the name lavencas was kind of a placeholder until I thought of something that sounded better, but my channel exploded way faster than I would've ever imagined and by that point it was too late...

"The Tick isn't that bad" In OG Isaac, it was indeed that bad. Why? Because the Polaroid was a trinket, not an item, meaning you could kiss any hope of visiting the Chest goodbye if you got the Tick. (The Dark Room didn't exist yet.)

In the OG Isaac, you can "owe" red hearts to the game, so when you took the HP up at 9:50, you get the red heart which youve "owed" when you used the Strength card in previous devil room to get 3 soul hearts grom Guppy's paw. This system of "owing" hearts is in the whole game, so be careful. Basically when you used the Strength card your red heart counter went from 0 ->1 with Guppy's paw use from 1 -> 0 and after leaving the Devil room, your red heart counter went from 0 -> -1, because effect of the strength card has ended.

Or in other words health worked like a counter that could go bellow 0. So by activating the strength card the red health went from 0 to 1, using guppy's paw made it 1 to 0 and by stopping the effect of the card, the hp went from 0 to -1

One of the most insane things I ever saw in flash Isaac was that XL floor generation could cause 2 or more rooms to spawn next to a super secret room. Wolv21, if that name rings a bell to anyone, once on stream found this rare floor generation on either the depths or necropolis XL, with the second secret room attached to a separate set of rooms on the floor. Weirdly, they were attached ONLY to that room. You could traverse the entire map and a whole 10+ rooms were attached, only accessible by bombing the other walls of the super secret room. Watching your visit of this game alongside playing the red key challenge in Repentance revived that memory.

Ah OG Isaac, when your victories were HARD earned. The only way you'll get the Sheol trap door is if you beat Mom's heart without taking damage, otherwise, you'll have to wait to unlock it naturally. There is also a LOT of stuff you gonna have to un-learn from Rebirth, lol, builds won't start getting busted until you start unlocking more items.

2:36 idk if you figured it out later in the video but flash isaac ipecac can actually and very commonly fly over the target, it is not a matter of the hitbox being weird it's that enemies have a height

Hi! Would absolutely love to see some more flash Isaac content! Here's a tip for obtaining infinite money (and droppables if you have Bum Friend): spam IV bag while walking in and out of a room, the I-frames will provide you with invincibility that will allow you to cheat death while making a huge profit.

16:24 is a spawning glitch on the chub, hense, back in the day, we would call it the buttless chub. The chub will try and fail to spawn minions. The game was coded in a way to have the butt be the spawner of the chub. But without a butt, the face still acts according to its AI behaviour; this includes spawn minions.

Even better if you use it and walk through a door, you'll maintain invincibility frames and can just infinitely spawn money in both rooms at the cost of only half a heart. @lavencas

You can just do it infinitely by going back and forth between two rooms. The room changes refresh invincibility frames for long enough to keep using the IV Bag. I have a run or two that are ancient as shit on my channel that are like 3 hours, 90% of which was spent on basement 1 or 2 generating everything in the game off IV Bag glitching and Habit D6 abuse.

I've tried playing Repentance with WOTL ost, and it sadly did not fit that well imo. I just don't think the music fits the Rebirth aesthetics and vibe. Antibirth and Excelsior though, both such amazing original soundtracks for the game.

Regarding your comment on sluggish movement, in flash Isaac, touching a wall slows you down. Keep this in mind when fleeing enemies as it can be the difference maker. Also, the parasite was bad due to unpredictable knockback, as well as any forms of shot speed up for the same reason.

about the intro clip, yeah in classic isaac deals and other stuff can kill you if you don't have any red hearts no matter how many soul hearts you have, that's also the reason why most of the items that use hearts starts using soul hearts before loosing all your red hearts

Actually, shot speed in flash Isaac is quite bad. It makes simple stuff like angling your shots harder, makes homing worse and even affect stuff like Lump of Coal (who's multiplier works by how long a tear lasts on screen, not how much distance it travels) So shot speed down pills are genuinely good, since they are one of the very few ways to take it down.

One broken build from that era: Habit + Book Of Relevations. In this game, Habit restores HALF the charges of the item, instead of one. You see where this is going, right?

There is interesting bug in flash isaac. You can have infinity coins. When you use IV bag, just run in other room and use it again.

Cas actually got me to buy and play the OG Isaac after I finished repentance last year. Something to note, you should try to play hard mode (Eternal mode) it is very different. My first play through had me get guppy and brimstone and we need to go deeper and ankh, so I managed to kill Satan and unlock the D6 that play through. Also, hard mode has a lot more soul hearts and eternal hearts.

As someone who started with flash Isaac, in a weird way seeing you absolutely suffer playing it is really vindicating. I had such a miserable time with that game, and years later when I finally got Rebirth things felt way smoother and easier. Up until now I just assumed it was because when I got flash Isaac I was young and bad at video games, but now I realize it's just a really hard and kind of janky game, and that Rebirth is (in some ways) easier.

Seeing people cry "Where's all the instant free op shit?" in flash isaac is a little funny. Bosses don't instantly die at the start, they are bosses. It normally takes d6+habit and maybe polaroid to get it game breaks going. Most special shot types don't synergise but rather override eachother Also stop running towards troll bombs, you have to run away from them until they explode. you tend to run diagonally; half away and half towards then so you get hit.

If you want to obtain true flash Isaac knowledge, head over to Bisnap's channel, he was the OG goat of the game and had been one of the ones to access the code to find out exactly what every item did and then committed it to memory, reciting every items effect. He was also the inventor of the so called Brimsnap, or at least the person who propagated it widely through the community. He still streams till this day over on twitch and his main channel has become a twitch archive. Rebirth and it's following updates brought about the qol updates that were dealt needed for the game but ultimately pushed Bisnap out of a job. I miss his old content. Watching flash Isaac brings back many fond memories of learning to break the game. There's a playlist somewhere of all his runs where he broke the game.
