Film discription: The numerous miraculous rescues by the local wonder boy Clark have aroused suspicions amongst colonials of Smallville. Interestingly, the boy has managed to downplay his acts of various heroic egresses in the past. They say he's either too fast or has a penchant for finding trouble. He was found by Martha and Jonathan Kent on the day of the Meteor Shower, and subsequently adopted. Clark's friend Lex Luthor, the only heir of Luthorcorp, has been secretly investigating grounds for Clark's outlandish valor. However, on the face of it, Clark just seems a normal boy who's slightly more secretive than usual.

As someone that watched from 2001-2011, I can say that this moment was very satisfying. The luster did wear off after a while and then it set in that we never really saw Tom Welling’s Clark Kent in the suit but it was still satisfying and did keep in line with the “no tights, no flights” policy. Hearing Jor-El tell Clark that his trials in Smallville made him who he was and then having Jonathan Kent’s Force ghost (lol) hand the new suit to Clark gave me chills. It’s a very important and beautiful moment considering the dynamic between Jor-El and Jonathan Kent.

THIS is how you do a superhero origin story. The actor was a good pick to take on the role of Clark Kent, the one who would become Superman. They introduced the characters who would become staples later down the line, had Clark both discover and master his various superpowers, and concluded the entire series with him donning the suit and performing his first heroic act as Superman.

We never get this much detail and story telling when it comes to show nowadays. This show was truly a treasure; through the cheesy parts to the parts that made you get excited to the silliness at times.... but oh so to the joy they gave us. The actors was cast so true to the intent of the entire show and all the subtle references to superman; when he was given the red cape and hung it on the fence. I passed on my love of Superman to my son...my Dad took me to see Superman in 1978 when I was seven. I watched this scene with my son and I couldn't hold back the tears of joy and seeing the wonder and excitement on my son's face. One of the best days of my life.

We were cheated. We waited a long time to see Clark complete his journey to become Superman to…. not get Superman. Tom should have budged on the suit. He got to tell his story of Clark Kent; a whole ten years worth. 1 episode of him wearing the full suit wouldn’t have typecast him into the role, especially with how long we had to wait to *not* get the pay-off we deserved.

My personal favorite scene from the whole series besides in the S4 scene when he flies away, when they burnt the S in his chest, when he fought Bizzaro, rhe scene where Black Canary, Aquaman, and Green Arrow tries to look for him under the ice, when Bloom died, when Kara tried to teach him to fly and when he fought alongside Aquaman, Cyborg, Impulse and Green Arrow.. this show is very memorable...

I sort of stayed with this show during its entire run using VHS time shifts to skim through many bad episodes towards the end especially. It turned out to be more of an evening soap opera for a certain demographic than being about real Superman at all. It wasn't just that it departed from canon which was a given but that it kept on crapping over its OWN internal canon repeatedly as the revolving door of writers went around.

Kal El is so awesome. Often imitated but never duplicated. He is just so iconic when you think of a super hero. We are lucky they were wise enough to give him the weakness to kryptonite. It stops him from being boring and makes him have interesting stories where he can't get out of every situation.

You made Clark Kent look like the most absolute best non-animated character EVER you pulled that role off so well i truly believe that you really are Clark himself. The way i see it i think you're as equal as Stan Lee because both of you left an awesome memorable mark on the world 4 us fans 2 enjoy 4 the rest of our lives. And even though Stan passed away yesterday his legacy will live on as will yours as the actor who played the boy who became a man who then became Superman. Tom refused to don the suit from day one for fear of being typecast. Midway through the series he virtually sealed the deal by becoming a producer. I held out hope flying was being saved for the final season, but it soon became obvious the cape would either come out only in the very last episode or not at all. Bitter as the taste of denial turned out to be, Tom did at least achieve his goal, for it occurs to me only now that I never did - and still don't - regard him as Superman. Ironically and amazingly, however, while he was able to dodge the stigma of the cape, he somehow overlooked that of the wholesome and awkward farm boy with thick-rimmed spectacles, careful hair and inexorable link to a ball-busting brunette with initials L.L. In Smallville, suit or no suit, Tom Welling wasn't Superman at all; he was the guy who played Clark Kent.

In other Superman media they always have a younger actor playing young Clark, even in The Movie young Clark was not played by Christopher Reeve, Smallville couldn't do it because Tom Welling was a 25 year old playing a 15 year old when it first started and 30 plus year old playing a 20 plus year old when it ended.
