I'm conflicted. Is it unimaginatively a slavish imitation of the 1980s Christopher Reeve movie, almost identical in some ways? Yes. Was it enthralling at the end? Did my heart race at the end as he zoomed off to the strains of the John Williams score? Also yes.

Christopher Reeve was an integral part of Smallville at the time of his passing. The ending was clearly intended as a final homage to him by the showrunners, cast and crew, tying the storyline in to his Superman portrayal.

Perfect tribute to Christopher Reeve's movies. He felt SMALLVILE expanded young Clark's storyline, from the first movie. This does both Christopher Reeve & Marlon Brando's (RIP 2 Both) perfomances proud. Your splicing together Terrance Stamp's voiceovers, cancels out the coldness Jor-El's A.I. showed; in early seasons. Excellent in every way.

The only "battle" was when he was thrown by Darkseid possessing Lionel's body. That's when Clark finally realizes his flight ability and flies through Lionelseid and destroys him. The only thing you see in space is Clark pushing Apokolips away from the Earth and then we see Tom Welling's head CGI'd to footage from Superman Returns where Superman is in space suspended above the Earth.

Wow how cool to put both John Williams and John Ottman music for this video I'm a huge fanatic fan of Superman ever since I can remember from years ago in smallville there's 2 general Zod's Terence Stamp (voice of Jor-El) and Daniel James Callum Blue what a nice touch to smallville I'm sure that Tom Welling is proud of both of them I know I am since Terence Stamp did this 12 years back in season 05 I like in episode 01-arrival (2005,2006) and season 07 episode 18-apocalypse (2007,2008) they show planet krypton and red sun rao just like in Superman 1-The Movie (1978) and explosion of them both in that episode and the movie peace, love, respect, and God bless my friends.

Terrance Stamp was a fantastic choice for the voice of Jor El. Even though it was a bit of stunt casting since he was Zod in the Donner films, he was a great presence in the show pushing Clark to reach his potential.

This was perhaps the best ending of any television series I can think of. It tied this series to the Christopher Reeve movies with the music and even the look of the Fortress of Solitude. The John Williams Superman theme is perhaps the greatest of all superhero themes in my opinion.
