I’m a pilot and aerospace engineer here. I had a wife’s family member tell me that the earth was a “flat plate”. She said it with so much conviction that I knew she was way gone into that world. So I decided to fight fire with lava. I agreed with her and went on a rant on how birds aren’t real (she owns a parrot btw. Lol). It got to the point where she was telling my wife that I should be “checked for something and seek professional help”. Lmao. 🤣 This is the only way to approach these people. Agree with them to get them to lower their guard and 1-up them at every chance you get. And make the 1-up crazier and crazier every time.

@@randomname9723 It's probably not edited, I think the width of the lens might play into distorting the proportions. In a lot of photos of Earth the continents look way bigger than you'd expect. It's the same effect as your nose getting larger when you take a photo with a wide angle lens.

@@ImVeryOriginal you can actually never see half of the surface of a sphere at once, you would need to be at an infinite distance (i think that's right). from the moon you can see about 49% of the surface. this photo could have been taken at a relatively low altitude. from the ISS you can only see about 3% of the surface at any given time. also i know this was months ago i just had to get it out there lol

In fairness the Equivalency Principle in physics states there is NO distinction between gravity and acceleration. There is no "force" of gravity, but it is instead the result of spacetime curvature such that objects always follow the path of least time. So tilting the bottle doesn't "prove" gravity, only that the bottle is under acceleration (which I believe most flat earthers explain as a linear accelleration perpendicular to Earth's surface). Gravity is a great theory with lots of expirimental support, but it's hard to grasp and not well understood. One sympathizes with flat earthers to desire to simplify their world model, but this does not of course relieve them of their duty to make it consistent with measurement. It's particularly sad to see flat earthers do good experiments on earth roundness (like moving a precise gyroscope a long distance) and then discard the results or add new phenomena to explain them - this is the opposite of the scientific method they (mostly) claim to admire.

I used to work at a restaurant that was next door to a place that fixed Apple products.
