Back too many years ago for me to want to remember when I was in college (late 70's) I took a geodesy class. Everyone had to do a term paper on a subject from a list the professor gave out. He placed all our names in a 'hat' and drew them out and when your name was called you chose one of the topics. By the time my name was called all the 'good' topics were gone. So I selected "Determining position on the Earth by Occultations" since I was also an amateur astronomer. GPS was coming into being back then and all the topics related to GPS were gone so I did this one. It was a method that could produce good results of 20-30 feet accuracy. I proved in my paper that if you tied your sightings to a time signal graph with direct correlation to star intensity readings using photo cells to determine the 'exact' moment the occultation started you could get accurate calculated results to 3-5 feet. Which was as good as GPS results back then... I think I surprised the prof! Let's see if a flerf can do those! (Don't even ask me how to do it anymore... @@ReValveiT_01 They should take the tangent of the angle to the horizon, then divide the true altitude (in nm) of whatever celestial object they observed by it. This would give the distance over a flat earth's surface (in nm) to the ground position of that object. Three such observations to objects visible in completely different directions should give a "cocked hat" of overlapping radii. If it's reasonably high in the sky (say over 20 degrees above the horizon), refraction should be negligible - and if they say it isn't, they need to provide calculations of that refraction correction. Using globe formulae is pretty similar, except without the tangent - you actually take the angle from *overhead*, though you use the horizon as the reference and then invert arithmetically. This directly gives the distance (one arcminute = one nautical mile) from the ground position of the object at the moment of observation. All the rest of the calculation is working out what that ground position is (from the almanac and the current time), then resolving distances into coherent lines of position.

@@flattenthecurve8623 Yes. I am. However, the Earth is only rotating once per day, so the centripetal acceleration is much less than gravity, which is why we cannot feel it. The problem with the claim that there must be something to keep the air from escaping into space is that there is nothing keeping the air at sea level from expanding into the reduced air pressure at ten thousand feet. The fact that air pressure goes down with increasing altitude proves that there is no need for a dome to keep the air from escaping into space, as well as proof that gravity is real. As far as your claim that the “pressure” is lower at higher altitudes and therefore it becomes a vacuum, well that’s just another ridiculous statement. Where did you get the pressure in the first place? This is a dynamic system. All gasses are created right here on earth and then mix. Water vapor rises up ⬆️ then condenses back to water and falls back to earth to start all over again. The sun warms other gasses that then rise and mix with cooler gasses to create high and low pressures. You need to achieve pressurized gas before you can have a dynamic system. Where’d you get the pressure in the first place? To be continued
@flattenthecurve86232 жыл бұрын
@@richardbell7678 How does a dynamic gas system prove gravity is really? Again, you need a finite space to achieve pressurized gas before you can have a dynamic system as proven by every gas law there is. And speaking of gravity, please elaborate. What kind of gravity are you talking about in the first place? It can’t be newton’s gravity because Einstein debunked all of newton’s laws, yes, all of newton’s laws are debunked. Look it up. Gravity is not a force. And as far as Einstein goes, everything he did on gravity is pure pseudoscience and self admitted. Just looked at the title pseudo is in the title. Einstein never did one experiment and even said he can’t prove the earth moves. That’s why he developed the transform equation. Sorry, everything can be explained by density and buoyancy. You can even do repeatable experiments to verify density and buoyancy. Things don’t always go down and that alone debunks gravity. As far as the sun’s rays illuminating the underside of clouds, how does that prove anything about your Globe Earth Religion? In your religion, the sun is 93,000,000 miles away. That’s ridiculous right off the bat. How can people be freezing in NY and swimming in Florida? Sorry, the sun just isn’t that far away. Besides, we’re taking about the earth aren’t we? The horizon destroys your Globe Earth Religion every day everywhere. Simply put, we see far too far. You need a geometric horizon that actually curves away from the observer. Your whole religion is nothing but cartoons and hoaxed moon landings which should be raining red flags 🚩 everywhere in your mind. Her presentations show how little she knows about the form of the Earth, how gyroscopes work in general and specifically in the aircraft she flew. She only has use as a target for “point and laugh”. The criminal thing is she is still getting paid as a “pilot” due to agreements between KLM and the Dutch pilots’ union, the VNV. Her entry to the world of conspiracy was due to her son being diagnosed with autism after receiving his MMR shot. She put 2 and 2 together and came up with ‘Bullfrog’ as the answer and went downhill from there.

Hi Jonne, I think it helps that she literally grew up crawling around my telescopes and watching me work on drones, charging batteries and tweaking. She would sit there watching everything. I would let her touch the controllers and the eyepieces and she never felt like anything was "off limits" We make everything a fun game. Like learning the planets. Emma can find Jupiter by herself in the sky and from there knows Saturn also. Perhaps that is a great way to start with your kids. Maybe try to show the scale of the Solar System with a basketball and a few marbles. If you have access to a telescope looking at Saturn for the first time is something most people never forget. I remember Dad waking me up when I was young to excitedly show me Saturn through his telescope. I still see that image in my mind to this day. We never push her if she gets bored and has had enough for the day. I guess every child is different but an occasional reward helps. I told Emma when she got all the planets right three days in a row she would get.a pink donut so that was motivation enough. I could hear her practicing in her room at night.

Dr. Bob did it many months ago, using 2 different sextants and getting his position within a few miles. As the saying goes in the USA, put up or shut up. I'm not sure if that translates into Aussie-speak. Also, isn't a sextant just a tool for measuring an angle? Couldn't you use any appropriate angle measuring tool to make the same measurement, consultant with the Almanac and get the same result?
@bobsurface9082 жыл бұрын
But then you'd have to find a way to convert it to coordinates...which is impossible on a flat earth. Primarily of course because the coordinates themselves are projections on a globe. Of course, a MANLY Flerfer would not only find their position without using globe tools/calcs... They'd navigate with one blind on a boat. I'd pay good money for a flerfer to attempt a 500 to 1000 mile trip - or just any two destinations a couple hundred miles apart if in the Mediterranean, as long as they navigate without any visual cues. Hell, I'd help them dive for their belongings on the boat afterwards, if they like.

Sextants on a flat Earth use what exactly? I haven't seen a good explanation. The horizon rises to eye level so will they ignore the dip angle correction? What about correction for refraction of the sight line to the object? Will they ignore refraction for a flat Earth? Will they use the GP tables from the Nautical Almanac? What about correcting for exact time of observation? Do the Moon, Planets, Sun and other stars really rotate at a steady 15 degrees per hour? How about that Zenith angle times 60 Nautical Miles business. Will that be ignored as well as it makes a mockery of perspective and triangles? From what I've seen Mitchell from Australia come out with it appears to be: 1. Take the angle between the star and the horizon; 2. Calculate angle at object by subtracting the altitude from 90; 3. Get your distance from the star's GP by multplying the angle at the object by 60 Nautical Miles. I didn't spot any mention of using the correction tables but he has to be using the Nautical Almanac, 15 degrees per hour & an accurate watch to get the GP surely? Is that allowable or does that count as stipulating the globe already? After all Zenith angle times 60 Nautical Miles gives you the R value.
