Good to see greeny out on the road. I bet your little puffs of smoke out the back cylinder is just some oil getting past one of the valve guides. Also be careful messing with the tank on the 67 get a bore scope and peel in there first to make sure it isn't pitted to $hit before you start heating and trying to fix it. That can turn into a $hit show right quick. Good video. Swap meet this Sunday in central Jersey.

Thanks matt. And yeah, I’m a bit leery about repairing the shovel tank because yes, it is pitted in there so I’m in the rush lol 😂 and yes me and Billy might try to go to Central Jersey

Great video. Awesome choice of music when riding the shovelhead. The absolute best advice that I give everyone for everything is...keep your finger out of it 😂Cheers

Lol 😂 😂 thanks YR. Yeah the funny thing is about the music while riding the shovel head when I first published the video with KZbin. They copyrighted me for my original first song so right before publishing it I had to go in and remove the first and add a different one that KZbin let me pick out and it turned out it was a really good song the way it fit with the riding

I know what you mean man. It drives me nuts when something with my bike isn't mechanically correct. When someone tells me to "just ignore it, it is running fine" , " just ride it, it will probably run another 30,000 miles running like that" , etc etc . To me that's like nails on a chalkboard.

Love the little sporty but why is the speedo and Tack not working .LOL if you like me, it's on your list to do. I'm just not there yet on my list ?
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
@RickyBloom 😂 well the speedo doesn’t work because the spot where the cable and gear drive goes into the tranny was filled and welded over. Back in the day guys were known to do that because that gear drive in the tranny was notorious for detonating and cracking the cases. The tach is not working because I had previously replaced the tack inner cable. It worked for a little bit and then snapped again so now I have to do it over and reroute it this time better so it doesn’t snap again but that’s on my list of things to do again!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Hell my 82 shovel smokes a bit. Even after doing the heads. Shitty valve seal design. I had an old Harley Guru once tell me to tell people it's old enough to smoke. Glad the flatty is good to go. Great video as always.

Slick I had the same problem with my 93 softail harley battery was only 2 years old and always on a tender, would not even crank with a jump from my truck turns out battery shorted or open inside ,swapped out with a battery from other bike and it cranked over,of course harley warranty is only one year .
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
Yeah, more than likely is the same problem and my starter would work, but as I said in the video that starter has been acting crazy the last few years and not wanting to start sometime and making loud screeching noise and then starting when it wants to. So It’ll probably be best to just get a new starter as well.

@anthonyiannone76182 ай бұрын
Hi Slick Your idea of using the battery tender connection to attach the jump pack has one major flaw. The wire gauge is way too small to carry the high current the starter demands. All it was designed to do was carry a few amps for the tender. The starter will draw upwards of a hundred or so. You need to put the jump pack directly to the battery terminals or directly to the starter itself. There is a jackshaft bolt at the tip of the starter gear that needs to come out before the starter can be removed . The 1992 dyna custom exactly as you have was my first bike also. Bought it new in 1992. They also made a dyna daytona version , same bike with a commemorative daytona beach bike week paint scheme.
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
Yeah, Anthony, I was going to write that on the screen that maybe the battery tender wires were too small for the jump pack, but I was just too tired to write any more words on the goddamn screen I was over it but yes, I thought that that was also my problem with the jump pack
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
So let’s see how many people catch that and rag on me about it lol😂😂😂
@anthonyiannone76182 ай бұрын
I dont want to rag on you about it , just trying to help , I dont want you to replace the starter unnecessarily. I like the way you are thorough and willing to go to the manual to get specs and the technical info you need but i know electrical issues can be difficult
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
Yeah, no worries Anthony not once did I think you were ragging on me. I know you’re only trying to help me and you give me good advice. 👍🍺
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
And as I said, for the last few years that starter has been really suspect and not working at times when you initially go to start it up. So if it turns out to just be a battery issue, I really need to think about getting a new starter anyways.

my 2 cents, only weld the tanks, tig is the best, if you brass are soilder it will always be there and then you cannot tig it,
@SlickHeadCustomCycles2 ай бұрын
Yeah, that’s a good point too, and if I tig welded it, I’d have that whole filled faster than I could with any type of soldering or brazing…… the faster it can get done the less heat it’ll take
