As an aspiring venture main I actually didn't drill dash underground except to rush outta spawn faster cuz I thought the damage on it was negligible, but this is helping me get the more utility aspect of it, nice

it does what like 20 dmg? which is negligible by itself, BUT, it also applies the dps passive to a, possibly, wide group of enemies since it's hitbox is massive, and it has a substantial boop which can disorient people.

But it applies the passive and it boops + it's just free value to use burrow to drill immediately because you can get the drill back by the end of burrow and it pressures the enemy team to not ignore you while allowing your team to push it when you're charging. The overwhelming majority of supposed guides are basically trash and put out by players somewhere between Masters and Gold, especially for any new or recently changed hero or meta. Actual high level players compare playing adventure to playing half health ball or old doomfist for a reason. You either position evasively in the first place and just shoot things and take zero damage back or you use buttons to hard commit for a kill so you don't need to run away.

I play a lot of Lucio and a major problem with this Venture is that he shoot where the enemy is at, not where the enemy will be. There is a delay to gunshots with projectiles and you need to start aiming in front of the moving enemy to hit more shots, ALSO your projectiles are REALLY big in this game, make as big of a crosshair that you can get away from that always hits enemies within it from close-mid and aim in the direction they are going and you will improve your accuracy by a lot. Most projectiles go pretty straight but with a delay, just aim where you want the shot to be, not where the enemy is currently at because the enemy will move and you will miss your shot. Go in to the practice range and play around with your crosshair to find one that makes it mega easy to hit projectiles, I have a crosshair that will hit the enemy at the edges of my crosshair and it makes it easier to understand where the enemy hitbox is at because the enemy hitbox is WAY LARGER than what you see on your screen, projectiles are like cannon balls, even Mercys little pew pew cannon. You do not need to be a deadeye laserbeam player in OW2 at lower ranks, you just need to aim close to what you want to hit to hit and it will be ok. Even hitscan heros got massive cannonball projectiles, you just need to aim close to the enemy to hit them.

I honestly didn’t have much, if any trouble learning venture. Their play-style clicked for me in my first couple matches and now I main them on DPS. 7:35 can we stop calling high burst damage 1 shots. 1 shots are a very specific thing. 1 button press = death. The only true one shot is widow scoped in and ults like tire, bomb, doom ult center etc. is cass tapping your head 2 times a one shot? No, so why is venture using 4 buttons a 1 shot. It’s better to say insta kill you couldn’t react to it. Even junkrat had to press 3 buttons to get his insta kill and people called that a one shot. It just takes away from the fact that true one shots, outside of ults, are too oppressive. Even 2 shots are a bit boring to deal with if there is very little counterplay.

So I'm a Venture main too, stuck in bronze (but deserved, I suck, whatever...), but I know my main issues. I do the cooldown/combos you talk about correctly (for the most part...no one is perfect). My main problem is my left clicks. What's the best way to practice that? Just queue up for quick plays and focus on the left clicks? Practice range doesn't do much for me since the targets aren't moving erratically like in real matches. Really just helps me practice my combos. I WILL focus a little more on trying to hit their feet now that you said that...never thought about it, but makes sense since her attack explodes.

Your left clicks explode on impact, meaning on an enemy or environment - either you have to hit direct shots, or take advantage of the environment: hitting the frame of a door way, shooting ground etc.. However, the left clicks also explode at a set distance - learn that distance and adjust your positioning to play at that range, even if you can't hit direct shots, you will at least do damage with the explosion. Once your aim gets better, which will only come from playing more and developing your aim, you can start playing closer up and more aggressively. You will want to start hitting direct hits to climb as Venture, the direct hit does 80dmg + 40dmg from the explosion whilst the explosion will only do 40dmg.

When your game sense and mechanics are so silver that the perma jumping is not even a mentionable offense. Spend literally half an hour in VAXTA and rebind jump to a different key and you'll climb to gold EASY. This applies to everyone though, not just this venture.

Man this had me playing more comp tonight and let me tell you. Let. Me. Tell. You. I am not exactly great, or even good. But I'm really not sure how decent I can be when I'm watching shots phase through enemies. When my Invuln abilities are active on my screen, but the kill came of the person who killed me saw nothing of it. This game is sometimes so hard to play and it feels like the server-client connections are about 40% of what's keeping me from enjoying this game and trying to improve further. The other 60% is god aweful see-saw balancing (about 5%) and 55% players who I think really should not be allowed anywhere outside of the training room.

i think the message was accurate. this was needed even me how doesn't know how to play venture learnt something today. use abilities in a combo. this was needed. and cmon this is bullywatch ofc flats would have the teaching by bullying skill set

The main issue is high end players are giving opposite opinions on venture rn. You're saying his kit should be used for more consistent damage (Which I somewhat agree with, decision making is key for that though which is the big difference maker), but other high end players are also saying take advantage of the hit and run occasionally because full committing just because you're there is bad (which I also agree with) and her kit lets her get into some really useful places (Burrowing into enemy team and then power jumping onto high ground, hitting enemies in the process). As far as the random ulting goes, I actually found my venture play got a lot more consistent when I started doing that, as I started using her ult for tempo more than anything. I will say, with the hit and run style at the right times, I can fight a LOT more consistently than if I just think of her kit as a way to just commit.

@@SocialExperiment232 I would also argue that while I generally like flats, if the venture player did exactly what he was saying at some points of this fight, he would just instantly die. There’s a reason at least half of ventures kit is so often used to reposition/escape. It’s because if you don’t do that, you die and now your off angle pressure is useless. It feels like flats is trying to tell him to play venture like a true bruiser, but that doesn’t really exist in overwatch outside of the actual tank class, and venture would just instantly die doing half the things he said to do
