It’s expensive but it’s a game changer especially making rings. I went from 10 -15 minutes a ring. To 2 minutes a ring. In one day, you can make enough rings to pay for the kit twice over.

How many fingers do you have left? Great videos. Really interesting, the whole process. Could be quite therapeutic once you get into a rhythm. The bowl under the bolt cutters might be efficient. Really good watching.

All 10 so far 😂. Once you get into a groove, it’s very easy to just get lost in it. Until you realize you’re starting to get tired and you’ve made 80 or 90 rings! Thank you for your comment and thank you so much for watching.

I’m using a 1 ton harbor freight arbor press. With the 3D press kit from flatwearable.net. Their link is in the description below. I think that Suzanne mentions it fit in any 1 inch arbor press. I know that one of her videos talks about it. It will possibly be on the same page. Thank you for watching and messaging me. 😊

I’m new to making rings and just purchased a bender like yours, but haven’t used it yet. Can you please tell me what kind of buffing wheels you use and where you get them? I have a Harbor Freight a few miles away so I hope its there! Thank you so much for posting your videos, you give so much information and you make it easy to understand. I look forward to watch many more and learn more things! Thanks again!
@FlatwareCreationSS3 жыл бұрын
First Thank you for watching! The buffing wheels that I have are from Lowe’s. They don’t fit my mandrels on my buffer. So I have some pieces of leather holding them on. I have a stiff one and a softer one. Then I have one that is really fluffy for a high shine. And my fiber wheel. I’m sorry that I didn’t have more specific information on them. My next ones will have a smaller hole than my Lowe’s ones. And I use red and white polishing compounds on my different wheels.

Ok thanks and what diameter plastic roll do you use for doing your bracelets? I'm trying to bend silver ware but not sure what size I should be forming them around. Thanks Nancy
@FlatwareCreationSS11 ай бұрын
If you’re using the bender, I would use the middle size. When I first started out, I was bending my bracelets around a 1 1/2 inch schedule 40 pipe. I actually still use a 1 inch coupling for the size of my bracelets now. I just have it around the second smallest shaping roller. That’s where I found a sweet spot for mine.

Thanks for another fantastic tutorial. Can you give some pointers how to determine whether a spoon is; stainless steel, pure silver , chrome plated or silver-plated? Also what is the most ideal material to bend into rings? Thanks
@FlatwareCreationSS2 жыл бұрын
So the nice part about stainless and pure silver or 925 sterling is that they will both say that on the silverware. Sometimes the silver will stay 800 or something like that which is a lesser purity of silver. Sterling silver is definitely the easiest but you want to make sure that you anneal it first unless you’ve dealt with the pattern before. Normally silverplated will say something like AA or A+ IS is normally plated sometimes it will just stay plate. The chrome plated ones are a little bit harder because they look silver plated but until you start to bend it and you start to see the cracking that’s whenever I know for sure. And it sometimes it gets me still. Lol Thank you for watching and subscribing 😊

@@FlatwareCreationSS thank you I am inspired to start "ringing" myself. The arbor press in your affiliated Amazon link does not look similar to your press, I don't see the steel horizontal mandrel attached to it.
@FlatwareCreationSS2 жыл бұрын
@@highanddryful That’s the way the arbor press comes. The 3-D press system from Flatwearable.net is where all of the attachments come from and the new bar. That’s why it looks different. I started out with the last generation of bender kit and then upgraded to the 3-D which has a lot more features. The cost is definitely worth it. I can make over 100 rings in a day and they sell for $20 each all day long.

Are the silverware you use regular house ware
@FlatwareCreationSS Жыл бұрын
Yes, most of the silverware that I use is silver plated, but I have also used stainless before which is what most silverware is made from today. If you want to bend stainless, try and go with the thin pieces.

Jeremy, looking back at this, and I have a question. How many inches are you measuring your rings. 3 or 4 inches?

I cut them between 3”-3 1/2” for round rings. And spiral rings are always a little longer depending on the pattern.

Why aren't knives used? Seem there is a lot of metal that could be used. Do you solder the medal? Do you use wood, veneer,or epoxy with the medal. Do you use, steel at all, or just flat ware. Sorry, just starting out.
@FlatwareCreationSS Жыл бұрын
I have used jelly spreader knives to make rings before. Those are the small arms that are one solid piece, not the ones that have the fatter handle. The stainless steel blades I have seen some people turn them into rings, but normally they end up being a byproduct. I sell them to other artists that weld silverware into art. I mostly use Flatware for my jewelry and other pieces. The silverware can be soldered and recently, I’ve been able to solder stainless steel to silver plated silverware. My experience with epoxy and silverware has generally been a bad one. Often time it’s too brittle when cured, and it doesn’t like to stick to the silverware. I’ve had stones that I’ve epoxied to the spoon just pop off before. E6000 has been the best option for things like that. I have seen others use different kind of metals on their pieces, most often it’s copper because it just really pops against the silver. I hope this helps, if you have other questions feel free to ask them.
