drinkingpoolwater who's a better bassist Cliff or flea
@pipschannel12227 жыл бұрын
Jericho Freman Let me try to stop another 'who's better' discussion here. Try to respect both completely different players the way they are/were for their own style, inginuity and soul instead of placing one above the other, like a simpleton. I'm not calling you a simpleton, but It's just that those discussions never end well, with all kinds of arguments that make no sense whatsoever about things like ones mother.. They are/were both amazing players. Personally, I love Flea because of his outstanding techniques, aggressive grooves and rhytms, popping and slapping and all that with the stamina of five horses and also his great sense of melody and ability to switch between the 'sensitive', melodical and more aggressive bass parts. I also think he's a great guy on a personal level. Cliff was very clever in his playing, because of his excellent sense of melody (he was a big Bach-fan, which you can clearly hear on various occasions) and because he was able to 'walk the thin line' while remaining a very tight player in the overall mix. His real talent was that he always knew in advance how his playing would sound in the mix, which is very important to be able form the right foundation for a nice, big wall of sound. His playing sounded very 'mature' that way. Not a real showoff as he would always just add the right amount of extracurricular notes and never really overdid those. He was very down to earth that way and had a very 'hands on' mentality to make Metallica sound the way they did back then, which was totally bitching and innovative! Also love his distorted 2 channel sound with a wah every now and then. Really suited Metallica's dark, powerful sound!

Amazing Introduction! Just as good as when Chris Rock helped induct RHCP. Both Bands are in a world of their own. The uniqueness they bring to music. And what he said about Cliff, madd love right there. BTW, James's children are spitting images of him and his wife, it's freaking crazy. But they all smile like him.

Let's face it, he IS a bass solo! Really enjoyed that, a man who knows music, lives music giving a heart felt picture of a band he clearly respects and loves! I remember the first time i heard Master of Puppets and i remember listening to it 3 million times in a row, it was a mind blown moment!!

I can't blame him for being a little flustered up there. And it's better than being a short drum intro :P

I'm not an expert english speaker, but could that be the short form for "bass soloist"?
@geekrockrats8 жыл бұрын
+Beppe Manganello He meant to say bass player,but since he had just said bass solo he got a little tongue tied. no one would blame him

This is the speech anyone who doesn't "get" Metallica should listen to. Upset because they are rich and opposed to stealing through Napster? So what.
@VileBill38 жыл бұрын
+J Co Their initial problem with Napster was that music they hadn't finished and weren't happy with was being shared outside of their control.

Craig Bonham Wow--I did not even know that. Thx. People are so f-ing misinformed.

In 1985 at the age of 15, I saw a picture of Cliff Burton in Hit Parader magazine. Dawn of the Dead logo on his shirt, bell bottoms, and a jean jacket. He had that look which was the love of music. He was my favorite of the band. Shortly after his death, Jason Newsted joined and became my favorite musician in the band. Newsted was intense and loved music. As did Cliff.

Brayden Taylor It's a fucking tragedy that they haven't yet. But Green Day was?? I have nothing against Green Day and I like their old shit, but them getting in before Iron Maiden is a crime against humanity.
