That was a really timely tutorial today. Thank you. I was thinking of making a poncho, and now I know how without purchasing a pattern. Now I’m off to Joanne’s to buy some fleece. Yay!

This seems like a practical poncho! Is there some way you could show the finished front & back with the hood up? That would help in several way; to see how the hood drapes and how the length hangs at the length you used given your height. Thank you so much for sharing this project. Good visuals and clear cutting/measuring guidelines. ❣️👍👍

Hi Cheryl. I love your videos. Do you really need to fold over the edges of the fleece like that??? I thought that it wasn't necessary with fleece. People made blankets without sewing with fleece because of that reason. Just curious. Thank you!

Hi Christine. Fleece raw edges do not unravel. But I feel that leaving the raw edge showing has an unfinished look. I always finish the edges. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

Sherrill what if you want to make a child's fleece poncho how much fabric should I need to make one. And do you do the same thing that you do when your making an adults. Anna Guthrie
@TheSewingRoomChannel
@TheSewingRoomChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna. Measure from the top of the shoulder down to where you want the poncho to end, and double that measurement. Add additional fabric from the hood. Add those 2 measurements and that's how much fabric you will need. I recommend to make a child's hood that you use some old scrap fabric to make a practice hood to see how big you want to make. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

Hi Mariam. I am using a rotary cutter size 60 mm. This rotary cutter is made in many different sizes. The 60 mm is the largest. You can buy one from amazon.com, walmart.com, and many fabric stores sell them also. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

Hey! My name is Cheryl as well. Not sure how you spell your name. I was wondering if you could go over some patterns and teach how to make clothes from patterns. I have grandchildren and want to make them outfits. I used to saw from patterns when my kids where small but I had a massive stroke a few years ago and can only remember so much. I don’t have much money because I’m on disability. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciative!!! Thank also for all the videos they are all great!!

Hi Cheryl. The spelling of my name is very different - Sherrill. I have some videos on making clothes from patterns you can buy. I buy some patterns and I found the least inexpensive patterns are at Walmart. Not all Walmart stores sell fabric and patterns. Joann Fabrics and Crafts also have budget patterns. I sometimes buy those. To help with relearning how to read patterns, here is a link to a video I made a while back - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3yngXawgrJ0q7M I understand a little bit of what you are going through. I had a life changing injury to my spinal cord that affected my right side. I had to retrain that side from walking and using my right hand. With a lot of physical therapy I have managed to train my right thumb to work, and I am very greatfull for that. If you need any more help with sewing, you can write to me at: thesewingroomchannel@gmail.com Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

@sherimcgill6487
@sherimcgill6487 5 жыл бұрын
Dayze Mae there was no footage showing that she opened the fabric square up to be a single layer. Then she cut from one corner up to the pin she’d placed which determined the very center. Could be confusing I guess.

Hi Maria. After you have place a straight pin in the center of the fabric, you can use a ruler and draw a straight line from one of the corners (in your square). Then cut on the drawn line. This becomes the center front opening of the poncho. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Merry Christmas, and happy sewing. 😍
