Unpopular opinion, but imo while Lucario is great as a fighting type, it's terrible as a steel type. Plus, I argue that there are both better fighting types and better steel types in the game that outperform it, namely scrafty, conkeldurr, magnezone and ferrothorn.

This was the last gen before Azumarill gained Fairy type and changed breeding mechanics let it have Aqua Jet and Belly Drum at the same time, so it gets kinda overlooked sometimes... but Huge Power is insane in single-player, thanks for going over it here. Personally, I'd keep Thunder Wave on Ampharos all game if I used one. Later in my Pokemon career I've come to prefer Paralysis to Sleep for catching. It's a lower catch multiplier, but it never wears off. Having a dedicated status user on my main story team is something I appreciate, since I like to catch at least one of everything new on each route. Oh dang, I forgot Gen 5's routes changed instrumentation with the season! I love Gen 5 so much. "Licked you like the snowcone your head looks like!" And I will never see Oshawott the same way again. I disagree, production on this ep is pretty much like White 1 but worse audio. Sure, frequency wise the audio might sound clearer, but that alone is just a tiny part of the listening experience. Too much compression on the narration, making it perceived as loud all the time and fatiguing to listen to. There is also as side-chain compressing the narration to the game audio, which I get the purpose of, but it's unnecessary and a bit annoying.
@chugga
@chugga Жыл бұрын
@@jensvide777 If I may ask, what compression settings would you use? I haven’t heard this complaint anywhere else, but I am curious.
@jensvide777
@jensvide777 Жыл бұрын
@@chugga I'm glad you asked! I'm not here to complain without offering constructive feedback. Starting with the first compressor: I'd turn the attack close to 0ms(1ms) - You don't need peaky transients getting through. (However, if you naturally have very soft consonants, you'd want an attack around 20-40ms for the opposite effect). I'd put the release at around 200ms. This makes it so pretty much an entire word gets gain reduced instead of just the start of it. Now for ratio. I'd say to test this out by starting out with way too low ratio. Then way too high, really exaggerate. Then, too low again, then too high... Until you find a good middle point. (Have a low threshold while doing this so you really hear the effect). As for threshold, put it at a point where not every word gets gain reduced, but the louder words do. I assume your compressor has upward compression, too. (Gain addition for quieter parts). Be gentle with this, use it as an aid. It can make the room sound too loud(both reverb and noise). If you don't need it, don't use it, but if you do find some of your quieter words get lost, start adding in some upward compression. After this, if your narration doesn't sound in-your-face enough, you can add a second compressor with close to 0 attack, close to 0 release, ratio 2:1 or 3:1, and a low threshold. This is a gentle compressor that just brings the dynamics down and makes everything perceived a bit louder. Now that I wrote all of this, I hope you try it out!
@chugga
@chugga Жыл бұрын
@@jensvide777 Thank you! I didn't find too much to change. I was happy with the ratio the way it was, it was mainly the attack and release that sounded better with your recommendations. I'm pleased to say Episode 3 will have these changes made!

One thing I love about White 2 is just how many Pokemon there are. In Black and White, you had a grand total of four options beyond your starter before the first gym. Patrat, who's bad. Purrloin, who's also bad. One of the Elemental Monkeys - basically required for the gym, but not that appealing otherwise. And Lillipup. This game gives you more than that on the second route. And Riolu.

there aren't that many areas between the first and second gym (only 1 with grass I believe, as well as the addition of russtling grass encounters), so there aren't that many options. All of them combined are Audino, Dunsparce, Venipede, Magnemite, Magby/Elekid (Depending on Version), Growlithe, and Koffing. Of those, he tends to avoid version exclusives, and already has a fire type, so growlithe, magby, and elekid are out, and he's used a koffing before (quite memorably) so I'd say that's out too, so probably between Venipede and Magnemite I'd say.

@Loner098
@Loner098 Жыл бұрын
@a.x.x8184 There are quite a lot of plot holes in the story of Scarlet & Violet, and here's a list of them (credited to AcousticHarmonia in his Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Video Essay): Why does Arven want the help of the trainer he despises? Why does Nemona fully expect you as a trainer who's never had a Pokemon before to rise to the challenge of proving a worthy opponent for her? Why does Penny want your help to take down Team Star instead of asking someone like Nemona, or taking any other possible solution here? What's the point of a school that just tells you to screw off? How does nobody at the school seem to have any idea what went down with Team Star 18 months prior to the story? Why is Team Star so dead-set in their rules that they're not willing to disband even if their leader tells them to, but are willing to completely throw that out the window if the director of the school they don't even go to gives them an order? Why does Herba Mystica have such crazy variance of effects, always doing the one exact thing it needs to? Why is the Professor fixated on being the center of attention, taking credit for things they never did and frequently interrupting Arven? Why did the other Professor leave? Why did the Professor want to bring pokemon out of time to coexist here? Out of a genuine belief that'd be the best world? Why didn't the Professor call the mean Koraidon/Miraidon back to its pokeball, or give it the order to not be so damn territorial since it apparently listens to whatever orders they give? Why did they instead have to throw themselves in front of an attack just to save your Koraidon/Miraidon? Why is the other Koraidon/Miraidon so territorial over this world that isn't even its own? What happened after your Koraidon/Miraidon was shielded from the attack? What was stopping the other Koraidon/Miraidon from immediately acting again since its mentality doesn't seem to have changed at all? Why does the Paradox Donphan who escapes Area Zero do absolutely nothing? Why is Larry the only genuinely great character? Why don't any Paradox Pokemon seem to care that they've been wrested from their home into a completely different world? Why does the AI Professor stick around to make you fight to stop the time machine instead of just leaving? Why not leave Area Zero, which would have them deactivated, so we can disable the time machine? Why is the key to disabling the time machine the AI Professor? Something that isn't even a direct part of the machine itself, being an additional helper the original Professor created, why wouldn't the most vital part of the machine be something directly connected? You'd think if the Professor was fixated on keeping the machine running no matter what, the most vital part would be directly connected, rather than something running off a wireless connection, and which can make a conscious decision to deactivate the machine. Why did the AI Professor just keep the other Koraidon/Miraidon's pokeball in her pocket? Couldn't she have left it upstairs, preventing the final battle? Why does the AI Professor need to go to travel through time to sacrifice themselves? Why couldn't they just leave Area Zero, being deactivated? Plus, then the heroes could just take some of the crystals serve to keep them rubbing out of Area Zero as and then Arven would've gotten his parent back.

The reason the Japanese version gives you the option to switch between from kanji to katakana is for the benefit of younger kids, who might not know all of the kanji yet, since there are 2,000 of them typically used, and katakana is a common substitute for kanji for people who are learning them, or in older games with limited storage so they had to use katakana instead of kanji entirely.

i was going to leave this comment myself, but you beat me to it. surprised chugga wasn't already aware of this, but it is a pretty easy mistake to make considering the misconception that katakana is only used for foreign words.
@FourteenthAngel
@FourteenthAngel Жыл бұрын
Most older Japanese used kana almost exclusively because kanji couldn't be properly depicted due to the lower resolution and storages space of older systems. As technology advance, kanji started to be introduced. Pokemon didn't implement kanji into its games until Black and White. While on the surface, kana only might seems easier especially if you already know the words. Its more of a mixed bag in practice. Since Japanese has so many homophones with the only distinction being how they are written in Kanji and their pitch accent and since Pokemon game to this day aren't spoken that second clue is out the picture. If you have general grasp of the language this might not be as big of a barrier but if you don't it is actually harder to understand without the kanji. It wasn't until Legends Arceus that furigana (Kana written above the kanji the tells you how its read) was introduced into the games.

Ok, it's been bothering me, so I fired up my Japanese copy of Black 2 to check, and this NPC actually asks if you prefer *hiragana* over kanji, and vice versa. Not katakana.

The only way I won that fight? Sunkurn getting Grass Whistle early enough! Time for some more nicknames! ⬇️ *Sunkern* - Light / Sunny Basic names for a basic ‘mon. Not much else. *Pidove* - Fang / Shufen Both names are of Chinese origin; Fang frequently refers to beauty, while Shufen often refers to purity, charm, and aroma. *Sewaddle* - Dachi / Levana Dachi is inspired by a friend of mine who _loves_ this evolution line. Levana is from a potential inspiration of this Pokémon’s name, borrowed from the Roman goddess of newborns. *Psyduck* - Aneur / Eleven Aneur is a shortened form of _Aneurysm,_ a medical condition where an artery or vein is blocked up; An infamous symptom or warning sign is a nasty headache. Eleven, on the other hand, is a reference; Props if you get it. *Mareep* - Pan / Duttur Both names are derived from sheep deities; Pan is of Grecian origin, while Duttur is Mesoptamian. *Azurill* - Marriland / Mary …I’m pretty sure y’all can guess for the first one. The second one’s just a standard name in a similar vein. *Riolu* - Dusk / Dawn Inspired by the time-sensitive happiness evolution. *Lilipup* - Watson / Amelia Props to those who get this one. XD
