Very interesting podcast. This discussion has got my wheels turning.

I’m having more conversations with organizations about supporting EV’s, property maintenance (utility vehicles, mowers, etc), residents, guests, and staff. Wish there were more options for EV passenger vans from mainstream OEM’s.

Garbage trucks would be a great candidate for electrification. Lots of stop and go and drive a relatively short predetermined route.

Large payloads still a challenge for EVs. Give it five years.

I would have liked to hear more about how fleets work. I assume overnight charging is used.
@Bzzap8317 күн бұрын
There are some amazing implementations of overhead charging in lots for things like school busses. Are you looking to fill a fleet need?

Could not get past the bad audio quality on this one. If you have a choice between good video and audio: I would prefer playing better audio over a still photo of the speaker.

Commercial EV fleets make more sense because a business can build their own infrastructure. Personal EV's are brutal right now with limited infrastructure.

Zero emissions? At what point are you starting the evaluation?

Tailpipe, which is the only valid comparison for a vehicle emitting pollution in the area it operates (drives).

Also grid émissions are much easier to change. You shut down one thermal plant and suddenly the entire fleet becomes substantially greener.

I smell diesel exhaust everyday. I haven't smelled coal smoke since I was a child. It's how we heated our house.
@SigFigNewton14 күн бұрын
Even if coal weren’t becoming a smaller and smaller portion of electricity production in the US for economic reasons, EVs already emit less. It’s largely about efficiency. Gas cars have so much waste heat that they need a grille in front to help cool the engine. It’s like how old school incandescent light bulbs are hotter than the energy efficient bulbs replacing them. Energy wasted as heat.
