Rumours is one of the top selling albums of all time. Recorded at a time when the group was high on substance abuse vicious breakups and strife. The album reflects this. Each member striving to outdo each other. Resulting in incredible performaces. This is one of the quieter more laid back songs. For something more representative try "go your own way" or "the chain." Christine McVie was the other female vocalist/keyboard player recently sadly died. She sings "Songbird" a beautiful ballard.Just her voice piano and emotion

Stevie Nicks wrote this song about the guy standing right next to her playing the guitar Lindsay Buckingham a musical and songwriting legend as well. It's amazing how bad their relationship got but they still wrote and performed amazing music describing it all together. Watch VH1 Classic Albums Fleetwood Mac Rumors. It is 30 minutes of the greatest rock story ever told. Christine McVie the keyboardist in the band is a similar all time talent who wrote incredible songs in this band and had some issues to deal with as well. Seriously check it out. Gold Dust Woman should be your next.

Fleetwood Mac as a band is a legendary group made up of legendary musicians. You can literally pick each one just on their solo and duet careers. Not enough space to get into everyone but it's Stevie Nicks that is the standout. She has one of the most iconic voices in history and is also multi-talented songwriter and dancer. Her duets with those like Tom Petty, Don Henley, and Lindsey Buckingham (also of Fleetwood Mac) are amazing. The one song that cannot be missed is "Landslide". BTW: Love the hat.

You know how you may get song stuck in the back of your mind. A song you love but don't know the name of or who does it. For a long time you search for it but you can't remember enough about it to make any headway until one day you find it. That was Rheanon by Fleetwood Mac for me. Man I love that song.

There’s a live version of The Chain on YT which shows how intense their emotions were - Lindsey Buckingham shooting daggers with his eyes at Stevie Nicks when he sings “Damn your love, damn your lies”. It’s so intense. There’s so much emotion underneath this album.

Old man rocker here, and even back in the 70's I was a bit of a curmudgeon or snob and did not like these new upstarts of Stevie & Lindsey in FW doing pop music when I loved their earlier Bare Trees days and even their Peter Green days so I kind of ignored them. That said I was on a crew building a stage for them at Buffalo's Rich stadium in the mid 70's. As perks for being on the crew we got to see the concerts from back stage which is what I usually did but listening to Stevie I was so enthralled that I jumped over the security fence onto the field and made my way over to stand in the first few rows directly in front of Stevie. I have seen a lot of great concerts but do not recall any where I was so entranced, yeah young stoned guy / pretty girl so undoubtedly a sexual component but her voice and rhythm totally entranced me for the entire show like nothing else I can remember. Millie I still get goosebumps when I hear her voice, great review!

Love your perspective on the music. It is fun for me to see young people enjoy the music from another era, especially an era as fruitful as the 60s, 70s, & 80s. So, I am going to have to go back through your content and check out your catalog of reactions. Very glad I found you.

Fleetwood Mac are legends, and they had multiple personal rocky relationships that produced some great songs as at times only communicated through song. Stevie Nicks is singing lead on this one, and Lindsey Buckingham and Christie McVie were also songwriters and lead singers. Check out these: Stevie and Lindsey's "Landslide" (they were a couple before joining the band). "Go Your Own Way" has Lindsey Buckingham on lead vocals and is more of the Fleetwood Mac sound. "Silver Springs" from this same #1 live performance("The Dance" reunion in 1997) is awesome ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3XammBuo5VoatU ). Christine McVie's "Songbird" is a very beautiful and emotional song.

I've been listening to the musical genius of Fleetwood Mac for almost 50 years. Fleetwood Mac, analogous to Harvard University, which is not an accredited university as Harvard believes they are a standard unto themselves that not other entity can adequately evaluate. I'm not a graduate of Harvard University, so I cannot provide an informed opinion in that regard, but I am convicted that Fleetwood Mac is a standard unto itself, and that there is no outside entity that can credibly analyze or critique Fleetwood Mac. God rest the soul of the late Ms. Christine McVie. She gave us so many gifts.

...and auto-tune wouldn't be a thing for almost 20 more years.... That always impresses me, that the level of skill and artistry can be this high - and this was still years before MTV and music videos were part of popular media, so the band simply took a video of a live performance and made it their "music video".

Well I don’t know how true the goose bumps thing is. But I can say very few can ever give them to me, with music, Stevie is one of them, along with Anne Wilson, Floor/Tarja, Marco, Simone Simons. And Heather Alexander/no vocals, but Wagner and Chopin can for some of their music. Oh also Patsy Cline and The Ink spots, at least with their original members. That seem like a a lot. Butboutnof the tens, to hundreds of thousands of bands and more, and millions of songs, the ones listed are a nothing number, and those the only ones that have given goose bumps.

Wrong! This band was formed by legendary blues guitarist Peter Green. Peter Green named the band Fleetwood Mac because he wants for her friends to have a band with him and he was low profile and very generous (Mick Fleetwood and John Mcvie from John Mayall and Bluebreakers), in fact Peter Green had mental issues by abuse of LSD and left the band because he didn't like to make money and fame and he ask the band to give all the money for charity... of course they didn't agree. You can see the early classic songs by Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green (Oh Well!, Green Manalishi, Black Magic Woman, Albatross) all of these songs you MUST hear in your music journey because they are classic and beautiful and very innovative and a portrait from late sixties and early seventies. Have a good trip with this songs. Lindsay Buckingham and Steve Nicks joined after this.
