I enjoyed watching this. I miss working on cars. You having fun with all those tools and techniques. I am 50yo and worked in IT for past 25+ years. I missed the normal work instead of this abstract work. I came to see the $300+ charge for replacing this on my car.

This is your 2nd video that saved me big $$ on my Focus. Thanks--keep it up! One thing I wanna point out is that that flex pipe is for the 2.3L Focus PZEV engine, which makes sense since you're in NY (a PZEV state). The 2.0L Zetec was the most popular engine and is what most 01-04 Focus owners watching this video probably have. The pipe for that engine is the Walker 52243

Amazing video quality. Thanks for putting in the time and effort for making and sharing this. Much appreciated. I saw a few drops of water leaking from one of the flange connections. Is this something that one should try to seal up with high temperature silicone gasket? Or is a little water leakage from the seams OK?

On that second flange since it's an actual nut and bolt you could tighten instead of loosen and just snap it and replace nut and bolt. It's sometimes easier to do that instead of trying to get it loose. I have done this and it works. I wouldn't do that with studs of course, but if it can be replaced, why not?

I'm here cause I have a 2009 HHR that just rolled 100k a month ago and low n behold the engine light came on for 3 days. Then went off as soon as I borrowed a friends code reader. It still came up with a code even without the engine light on. The code $7E8:engine and $7EA. I've looked all over the web and came up with "Hot oxygen sensor" and cracked flex exhaust pipe. Does this sound right to you or anyone in comments? Will replacing the flex section like you did here reset the engine warning light? Just looking into it before going to a shop and hearing what they think and will charge. Thanks for your time and cool video.

Hi Klowny1969, could you recommend andy video's on air tools please, I picked up an impact wrench here in UK 2nd hand no instructions, it has settings one to 4, I am unsure how to determine what settings to use as scared of breaking bolts, also do you set the compressor at say 90psi before you press the trigger on the tool or does it need to be say 90 psi when using it, also as I see how hold spanners on the other end while using air tools is this ok when using certain settings as scared of breaking my arm, excuse my ignorance but I would like to learn, many Thanks Ian

EASY DIY REPAIR! *see note. * This DIY repair requires a few basic things any DIYer has laying around their garage: a 6 ton lift, impact wrench, 3 feet ratchet extensions, and $4,000 worth of assorted tools. Good luck DIYers!

Clown-Thanks for the vid. Doing some research as my sons car just failed inspection. Exhaust "loose, leaking joints". An 04 Camry, and I've no lift. Will 1200 degree RTV applied suffice? You feel Home Depot's bolts to be high enough quality? How does a newb know? Thanks

Yeah like my ol lady would be doing this repair or any repair herself LMAO!!!! I'd be one rough looking lady 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😝😝😝😝😝😝 thanks for showing the part where you had to use vice grip pliers instead of doing it off camera and playing it off like it came right off with the box end wrench...that'd be the route I take because I doubt I have a bolt the same size laying around and I'd put it back on with the vice clamps too and make a note of it in my book of repairs

I was looking at impact sockets at Lowes a few years ago. Guy there talked me into going cheap becuase they have a lifetime warranty. So I did.....lol.

How much does a repair like this cost? I ran over a dip kinda hard and now I think I dented/broke mine.
@klowny1969
@klowny1969 7 жыл бұрын
depends if they change just the flex pipe or the whole pipe itself with the flex..just the flexpipe should be under 100 bux..if the whole pipe needs to be changed..then u could be looking at couple hundred, depending on car

klowny1969 It's a 2008 ford Taurus it was throwing a P420 code the day after I hit the dip and looking under the car the flex pipe looks pretty dented...so I'm hoping that's what it is so I don't have to replace the whole thing.
