New Flex table saws have arrived and I have the perfect project to put them both to the test! Were going to see how many 2x4x8s can be ripped on a single 12.0 battery charge. Plus take a deep dive into each saw up close and personal, the details can make or break a tool.
SIDE NOTE #1 - THE SAWS ARE BOTH DUAL POWER! SOMETHING I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE VIDEO. THEY WILL RUN OFF AC OR DC POWER! FLEX DID NOT SEND OUT THE AC ADAPTER WITH THE SAWS, THE AC ADAPTER WILL NEED TO BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY ONCE THESE SAWS ARE RELEASED FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND.
SIDE NOTE #2 - YES BOTH SAWS LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM TO RECEIVE A DADO STACK! HOW BIG? IM NOT SURE. THE 10" WILL DEFINITELY ACCOMMODATE A LARGER STACK
SIDE NOTE # 3 - ONLY ONE WRENCH IS REQUIRED TO CHANGE THE BLADE! THERE IS A BLADE LOCK MECHANISM NEXT TO THE BLADE THAT LOCKS IT INTO PLACE, VERY CONVENIENT!

I found out that Flex in fact does make an adapter that one is able to use a battery and an AC corded plug. This is surely the best of both worlds. I am gonna buy the 10 inch unit..

I just knew you were going to put these saws through the riggers. For sure, I know I'll be getting the 10 inch no reason for me to have a smaller saw. I'll be getting the power adapter as well just in case. I have many batteries to support both miter saw and table saw as well as couple of 500 watt Super chargers just for this purpose.

Looks to be a great saw. Since the saws don't have a ship date, I'm pre-building a rolling bench. After checking the dimension specs, at one place they say the width is 27.5" and a little farther down, they say the width is 29". They do not identify which direction is the width although 27.5" would seem to be the front to back. For clarification, would you please measure the depth, (front to back) (w/o the rails) the width (side to side), the height (top of the saw table to the platform the saw sits on as well as the foot print of the saw. That would help me immensely. From the Flex website: • Table Width: 27.5 in • Tool Length: 30.1 in • Tool Width: 29 in • Tool Height: 16.6 in Thank you, Ken

I love me some Milwaukee tools. Have the 8 1/4 Milwaukee table saw cause I work in a small space. That being said....Bravo to flex with that flip up side table....I absolutely love it! We need constant little innovations....it pushes all the good companies forward in competition. Flex strikes me as a milwaukee competitor on the Lowes side, obviously they dont have the years of consistency....but they seem to have started out as well as a company can expect....keep it up! As a note, I have tro say I really dislike the Cut sense feature...I can see it being nothing but a frustration and not adding anything enough of worth to be there. That being said i still respect the fact that the team is trying different things etc..just one thing I dont worry about is battery charge, always have a spare so it just seems uneeded imo.

Interesting viewpoint. Thus far I am really enjoying the Cut Sense personally. But thats the nice thing about Flex. They offer it, but you DONT HAVE to use it! I agree, competition amongst companies is just going to set the bar higher for everyone.

Thank you for testing both saws super-early. I like your 'realistic' way of testing with the cuts. Quick Q - could you let me know the table sizes for both? As an intermediate hobbyist woodworker, I've been looking for a decent portable & cordless options and the 10" Flex may be the one for me. But table top looks a bit smaller than my expectation.
@miillersconstruction

Hey thanks for checking out the video! Absolutely. Great question. The exact measurement of the 10-in table saw top only is 27⅝" wide 22" deep. Full depth from the front of the fence adjustment handle to the rear most part of the saw is approximately 27". Total height of the saw without the fence installed is approximately 13¾" tall. Just let me know if there's anything else you would like to know.

@@miillersconstructionWow... Thanks for answering my question super-swiftly! It's about 1&1/8" wider than DeWalt 7491, so it really is a full size job site saw. Can't afford Sawstop yet, and anyway I don't like that they wouldn't release the patent. A good size table top gets me a bit safer than smaller for making it compact. Now I can just wait for it to hit the market. Thank you, again & Happy Holidays!

This was my first time knowing these existed. It’s a bit of a small detail but how tight are the tolerances on the miter gauge? We have a rigid table saw (hate the thing but it works) and the miter gauge is really sloppy when you push material through with it.

It feels pretty snug and quality to me. But you would have to be the judge of that. I have used the rigid and felt it was extremely sloppy as well! Great question. Wish I had thought to have shown that in the video. It was just so hard for me to remember everything.

I was curious when the battery went into thermal overload protection, how many bars were left on the battery? Because thermal overload is just to allow the battery to cool down, it doesn’t deplete the battery (at least for Milwaukee). Plus what about the cord adaptor for this, I didn’t hear you mention anything about the saws being able to be plugged in.
@miillersconstruction
@miillersconstruction 7 ай бұрын
The battery was blinking and completely dead as well. I personally never run my batteries to that point regardless. If they get to 1 bar, I'm stopping immediately and throwing it on the charger. But that battery wasn't just thermaled, no chance you're getting another rip with it even cooled down. Yes I forgot to mention the fact that it will be available to use with an AC adapter which is coming soon. I put that information in the description. I was so focused on covering as much as I could, it's difficult to remember everything.

Nice job flex! 2008ish bought a Dewalt impact with an led,thought it wasn't necessary....at the time building fence outdoors,needless to say I haven't turned down free lighting since. Really like the auxiliary fence on the little saw. Will it be an option on the 10? The 10 has a nicer switch,but the side table and front lock are much nicer on little brother. My saw is mounted on a Ridgid rolling mitersaw stand,possibly too high but very convenient. I will never sell my centipedes, they are extremely handy. Another great real world review !

@miillersconstruction
@miillersconstruction 7 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for subscribing and checking out the video. They have not told me anything about stands for these saws, unfortunately. I plan to install the saws on Dewalt rolling stands for now. Big difference in the stacked, great question! On a big tool like this, you will see a power increase for sure, but not necessarily a run time increase. On Circular saws I have noticed the most increase in power. Also the Flex cordless vacuum if you can believe it, huge increase in suction. Power hungry tools seem to love the Stacked batteries. But tools like the fan, lights, OMT, Grinders, you really cant tell any difference. The stacked batteries just provide such a better delivery of power to the tool in those heavy duty situations. Thats the best I can describe it.

@miillersconstruction
@miillersconstruction 7 ай бұрын
Great question. Both saws look like they will accept a Dado stack, how big, I'm not sure. The 10" has a slightly longer shaft than the 8 1/4" so it will accept a larger stack. Only one wrench is required to remove the blade! It has a blade lock feature that you simply pull up and it locks the blade into place. Very simple and very cool. Also something Im just realizing I forgot to mention in the video that's a big deal, the saw IS DUAL POWER!!! Yes that's right, it will run off AC or DC power. They did not send me the AC Adapter, it will have to be purchased separately anyway when the tool is released. Great questions!

3 years ago I bought some 12 amp hour batteries and last year I bought some 10 amp hour battery for the 10" saw Do you think the 10 amp hour will make a difference?
@miillersconstruction
@miillersconstruction 7 ай бұрын
I think you will see a power increase with the stacked 10.0 battery. For instance if your cutting wet treated lumber, I'm guessing you'll see the saw perform better with the 10 amp. I notice a pretty good boost in performance every time I switch to the stacked batteries, particularly on high demand tools. Run time? That's obviously not going to increase. But performance, yes definitely.

@@rickyperkins232 depends on your cutting style honestly and the materials your cutting I'm sure. I think if you're cutting board after board like I was, that extra 5 seconds of run time at the end of each board cut will really add up. I think it's also a convenience factor personally. I know everybody is different, I personally like to turn the saw off between cuts. Dad does not. Hard to estimate on that one man. I love a riving knife but I hate having to take it off as many times as we plunge cut materials. So we just toss it aside lol
