Starting 1991 Ford Transit 2.5D After 10 Years + Test Drive

About ten years ago I bought a 2.5 DI engine (1992 year, 4DA code) for a project, which I could not finish. I mounted the engine on a cradle and I am running it once in a few months just to listen to it 🙂! Many thanks to Flexiny!

I can see rust on the arches, in the door jams. Usually on something like a transit that means it's gonna be crusty af underneath.

Отличное видео, владею таким транзитом уже 11 лет, сейчас мало эксплуатирую, когда покупал многие думали это старый хлам, пробег был 500 тыщ и скорее всего скрученвый, проехал еще почти 200 , зимой мало езжу, летом очень часто, у меня турбированый EPIK, летом хватает что б потягаться с малолитражками, кузов начал подгнивать, нужно латать, пока не продаю, оставил для себя, пусть доживает свое при мне, хотя еще можно оживить и кататься работать😊

these transits with these engines were truly amazing machines, my dad owned one, althou a slightly newer model with the pointy headlights. The point is, if it werent for the rust, which appeared in almost every body panel on this astonishing vehicle, we would probably own it to this day, becouse the engines were absoloutly immortal. Great video and great sounding and looking car.

had a few of these and they all benefited from a shot of standard 2 stroke oil in with the fuel. made the old engines run much better

Именно на таком, 1991 года выпуска, отъездил 18 лет. Всякие были ситуации и условия, но ни разу эта чудо-машина меня не подвела. Модель была редкая- 2,0 литровый карбюраторный двигатель... Единственный минус- ржавел. Продал только 2016 году, но и сейчас вспоминаю его добрым словом.

Great economical engine. Very good on fuel. They need a new timingbelt every 60.000 km. I had one snap on me once. Bent a couple of pushrods and a rocker broke. After fixing that it ran fine again.Not the best starters in cold weather. You really need a good battery.

My dad has one even the same config although there is one difference, it has barn doors and no tailgate, 1991 Ford Transit 2.5TD (was turboed by importer because Finnish laws at the time) sadly it has sat for more than 17 years (18 this year) because headgasket broke, blew one frost plug out and at the same time all of the waters came out too, so it needs a little work before it can be driven again also it has rust

The flame starter in the intake manifold didn't work most of the time... but it usually starts anyway 💪🏻 if necessary with a hairdryer in front of the air filter 😂 They were great engines, especially as turbos
