I always felt he was egotistical. Everytime there was a play or choir he was proper horrible to the kids. Always about HIM and not worried about the kids who genuinely tried their best.

And (this could be the writers though) the fact he was Sambuca’s foster child briefly but was never part of her cancer arc including the memorial? But came back after it under a new head? Plus how he humiliated Carla (or Karla). I did like him sometimes though.

There was one scene in particular with Tom, where Tom was kind of greeting him but asking him what made him come to Waterloo Road after years of not teaching there. Sam wasn’t mentioned at all. I 😬 As I thought: what? You’ve not seen each other in years? Really? What about when Sam was sick? The funeral? Memorial? Etc It did not sit comfortably. Then the Martha thing, and I thought: I hope you remember your child more than you remembered your ex foster child.
