Marylander here. I was almost 10, watching the whole thing play out on the news. Sure were a lot of hero’s that day. And that copter pilot was a badass. Thanks for the movie upload!

I worked for Air Florida, I was supposed to meet the flight in Ft Lauderdale. One discrepancy, the de-icers we on, they malfunctioned. Pilot was in too big a hurry to take off. So sad RIP all who lost their lives in this tragedy

No they weren't so stop trying to cover for their ignorance and they shouldn't have tried to takeoff if they were malfunctioning big red flag

This was a really good movie . I remember watching this on Tv as it happened . Also saw this television movie when it aired. Had it on a VHS tape for awhile . Good to see this movie preserved and now online . Thank you so much . A terrible loss of life . Only 1 flight attendant and 4 passengers survived this 4 crew and 74 passengers perished.,😢😮

Love these movies and times from the seventies and eighties. I was age 24. Glad they have this movie, as I don't think I remember this or know about this flight tragedy, as I was too busy raising two young daughters living on the West Coast at this time. They did a real good job showing this very sad and tragic story. So sorry for all involved. When instincts raise caution in you about anything, we should listen. Don't like the thought of even flying in winter anywhere.

I saw this a few years ago and it’s very good. It’s also a very good episode on “Air Disasters.” (Season 5, Episode 4: Tragedy on the Potomac)

Hey, I hate to sound pedantic, but when the pilots did the pre-flight check, shouldn't the anti-ice switch have been ON ?
@30yearsfuelingbigjets11 ай бұрын
Larry Wheaton & Rodger pettit. Changed deicing rules forever. They don't deice at the gate anymore...they do it right next to the runway, in a safe area.
@thomascreary99011 ай бұрын
Anti ice system didn't malfunction the pilots they just didn't activate it they were accommodated to warm weather flying, the pilots were idiots and I blame them and the airlines across the board

The airlines back then put a lot of pressure on the pilots to keep on schedule they probably didn't pay attention to the danger

The men in the helicopter, the man who braved the freezing water-Roger, and the man who gave his own life, so other's could survive, were the REAL HEROES, of that day👍👏👏👏!!!! Cause it sure as shit, wasn't those first responders, of that day. Where were they??? Did they not want, to get their feet wet, and earn their pay, saving lives?? It's really embarrassing for police and firemen, when the average 'Joe-blow', does a better job than them, and saves the day. I remember this accident, even 42 years later.

Snow on ground, svrl inches with weather n the teens so seems appropriate to watch the same. No planes should hav bn allowed to go n air. All flights should hav bn cx'd n weather like that. All those lives lost 😢

Getting divers suited up and on the scene could take hours. There were no boats handy so it seems. A few men in the kind of kit that surfers wear could have got into the water as they would have had protection against the temperature. But no such surfing suits were available.

@katemaloney42964 ай бұрын
What are you talking about?! The Potomac was a literal skating rink. The Coast Guard wouldn't have been able to get there without an ice breaker. Additionally, the water was above freezing, which meant that hypothermia was going to set in around the 5-10 minute mark. No CG boat could've gotten there in time--even at full speed. Everyone on board were killed--if not instantly--in under a minute.
