FLIGHT ATTENDANTS ARE HEROES!!! I’m a super nervous flier (to the point of terrible panic attacks and medication) and I was flying solo from Atlanta to London on delta. We got some not great turbulence going over the Atlantic (which I know is really common to get there) and this lovely flight attendent managed to move my seat so it was over the wing AND she also sat with me for a good half hour chatting to me and distracting me. She was just loveliest person and I will honestly never forget her.

My flight horror story: I was flying home from Italy and it was a 13 hour trip. I’m sitting next to this Italian couple and throughout the flight they kept speaking to each other in Italian and they sounded worried. Fast forward a few hours and the woman’s water bottle rolls over onto my foot. I bend over and pick it up and to my horror, it is totally covered in vomit. I drop it and turn to look at the lady, who is puking all over herself. I stand up and go tell a flight attendant what happened. They quickly apologize and go to clean it up. I spent 2 hours standing and waiting to go sit down somewhere. I am told that the flight is totally full, and that both me and the couple will have to go sit in our old, puke covered seats. Thy put plastic wrap over my seat and I have to sit in it. It smells terrible. Then, I go to check how much longer there is in the flight. 10 hours. Yea, that was rough
@HellButterfly395 жыл бұрын
Okay, there is NO WAY the first class seats were full too. I have literally never in my life seen more than two people in the first class section, and I've travelled a bunch. I feel like for something this gross, not to mention it could be a biohazard, the line could've made an exception and relocated you there.

@mikipav10644 жыл бұрын
Maritsa Sheptoeva There’re long haul flights which don’t have a first class at all. Many budget airlines don’t offer first class and some of them don’t even offer business class, just economy. Also: The first class section of an aircraft is usually very small and has around 10 seats. Those 10 seats are easy to fill, even if the tickets cost a fortune.

I remember when I was eight years old, I got to fly for the very first time in my life. I was promised that if I did really good in school that year I would get to fly over to see my uncle who had moved away earlier that year, in the summer for my birthday. My grandma flew with me but, the first place we went to was Chicago where my grandma and I met up with my uncle and spent my birthday. Now the flight to Chicago was pretty funny and I’m so glad I was old enough to be able to remember it. Now a flight from EP to Chicago is pretty long. I was eight at the time and my bladder was smaller (you think you know where I’m headed with this but you don’t). Now I learned on the flight you weren’t allowed to use the bathroom 30 mins before landing and after takeoff. I was fine until about fifteen minutes into the descent. I told my grandma I had to pee REALLY bad and that I wasn’t sure I’d be able to hold it. My grandma freaks out a little and I started crying because I was eight and thought peeing on myself was gross and I wanted to not do that because I was a “big girl”. And then the heroic flight attendant came in she was able to get me to the bathroom without an accident I just had to stay in there for the rest of the flight which was like ten minutes at this point. So we land, pretty much everyone is off the plane, the flight attendant takes me back to where my grandma is sitting and she’s apologizing because she felt bad about me crying and I wasn’t mad at her or anything. Her and my grandma got to talking and my grandma told her my birthday was coming up. The flight attendant tells us hold on a minute and leaves to the pilots cabin. She comes back out and we meet the captain of the plane and chat with him a bit. I got to go in and sit in the co-pilots seat and just as my grandma goes to take a picture the captain says hold on. He takes off his pilot hat and puts it on me and my grandma took one of my favorite pictures to this day. I also got a big warm chocolate chip cookie for my troubles. 😁😁😁

Plane crashes where everyone dies are not very common! Malfunctions and emergency landings do happen frequently, but the pilots are trained specifically for those situations! Be wary of which airlines you choose to fly on, though. A lot of the extremely low cost carriers cut corners and push their crew to work very very long days (up to 14h of flying). It has been proven (a NASA study, I believe) that operating any kind of vehicle for more than 8h can cause symptoms similar to being drunk. All the pilots I know are superb and I trust them with my life :)

I understand where you are coming from, but as a nervous flyer, who can understand their limits with drinking, a drink can sort of calm the nerves. Trust me, I am way worse when I'm freaking out and potentially getting some other passengers to worry alongside me. Perhaps there should be a two drink limit? That's a sensible amount.

Phav G Each individual airline has its own requirements which you can probably find with some searching on Google. And Canada could be quite different so I’m not sure. I learned everything I know from Flight Attendant Career Connection group on Facebook, you should request to join!

Janay Gunderman work for an airline that flies larger planes ❤️ that way if someone poops you can just lock that lavatory up until you land and people will use the other two.
@sharmy93965 жыл бұрын
Phav G every airline is different but most of them will hire people from all over the globe. For US airlines I know you need the equivalent of a high school diploma, clean background check/criminal record, clean drug test and a few years of customer service experience. Huge bonus points if you speak multiple languages! Besides that you just have to pass multiple interviews and a 3 1/2 to 8 week training. Which will be 6 days a week for 10-12 hours a day of covering various material.
@thelegendoflivz5 жыл бұрын
tell pilots biohazard clean up needed, they call ground crew ahead of arrival, outgoing flight will be delayed upon landing depending on ground crew's judgment, but you get to walk off with passengers scott free woo-hoo. Well, I mean, you might want to clean up a little if you want everyone to still like you. But you're not the one with cleaning solution and vaccums. :)

I can totally relate with the Vegas puke story because it happened to me. We had just taken off and I got really nauseous ( was drinking all night with a few shots before the flight) - I asked the flight attendant if I could go to the bathroom but she said I had to wait for the seatbelt sign to go off. I think she realized what was going on from the beads of sweat on my face, raced to the galley and walked back with a garbage bag. I did not make two steps after I stood up but she had the garbage bag right in front of me. I managed to barf in the bag - so embarrassing. That little barf bag in the seat pocket would not have handled all the breakfast burritos I had.
